The Wii U doesn't have many major retail games left in the locker, though one of those is getting quite close to release - Paper Mario: Color Splash. The latest entry in the series hasn't been warmly greeted by all, but based on what it is offering we've rather enjoyed it so far.
Keen to emphasize its strong points, Nintendo's released an extended video with the intention of highlighting its core mechanics and, of course, some of its zaniness. There's some new footage and fresh areas shown off, and a very brief look at Mario's biggest foe.
Are you planning to pick this up on Wii U, or has it failed to make a splash as far as you're concerned? Let us know.

Absolutely buying this.
Top-notch narration, Nintendo. This guy totally sounds like he cares about what he's talking about more than the fact that he's getting paid for it.
"Woah! That doesn't look good!"
You don't say Mr. Annoying narrator.
And I'll keep saying it, sort out that spelling of "ColoUr" please.
"Color" is the butchered American spelling of the word. Did America create the English language? I didn't think so.
I didn't hear any narration at all, did they get rid of it? Did people rip the guy apart on Youtube?
Anyway, this looks like a lot of fun, but as an old timer, I'm concerned about the apparent lack of new companion characters.
quality trailer for a quality game 👌👌👌
As long as they don't get carried away with the use of cards like they did with stickers, I might see if this can redeem the series for me.
What's with the narrator? He sounds super sarcastic but unintentionally sarcastic.
What the he'll happened to Bowser? And is mario being slapped by...a steak...aight
The production values on this game are incredibly impressive for their last fart of a game that was made to fill a calendar spot.
Wait, What ?!
Super Mario Bros. 3 world become 3D ala Super Paper Mario ?!
OMG...!!
So many Surprises.
Fisrt, Bowser is the culprit behind that Chaos (Again).
Second, some Things confirmed.
Gosh, the Hair Dryer looks like throwing a Fire Breath instead Ultra Heat Wave. Also, the Jack Hammer looks so Powerful.
BTW, I saw a 'Sirloin Meat or Beef Steak' became a Boss Fight. XD
The haters are blind idiots. This game looks amazing.
This trailer made me realize why we never got a Super Mario Sunshine 2, they traded in F.L.U.D.D. for a hammer. Do they spell it H.A.M.M.E.R. in the game?
Announcer was awful, I would have preferred they brought back Aya Ueto. Even if I can't understand a word she says, I'm still buying whatever she's selling.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Axk5SQjbZ5k
Some of the best graphics yet. I don't know about resolution or frames per second, but if it looks this good on my 19" 1440x900 monitor I'm guessing it will look spectacular on my 52" 1080p TV.
Day 1. Probably the last one. The Wii U's swan song.
This game looks better and better every time I see it. Meanwhile, the narration gets worse and worse every time I hear it.
Haters will hate.day 1 buy for me,u know what ill be doing on Oct 7th
The more I see of this, the more depressed I get. Ah well, it was nice knowing you Paper Mario. Right, where's Rawk Hawk?
Nope...
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Yeah, I looked it up on Amazon UK and it's still spelled "Color" - I just don't get it.
I will get this game...... eventually. Only for collection purposes. But this is absolutely not a titel worthy of the Paper Mario name.
Or maybe it is, and the first two games were just the 'exceptions' here... in that case, let's just hope for more of those exceptions.
Getting this day 1. My kids are excited for it. And I liked Sticker Star. So this should be a blast for us to play.
Same with me. Day 1 purchase.
Looking promising than what I originally thought. A buy it is.
This keeps looking better and better. I'm going to get it.
I'm sold, preordering now. I agree, the narrator wasn't great, but the game looks amazing, and makes interesting use of the gamepad.
I think it looks great, and have since the reveal.
Reads article
Hm. Pretty.
Moves on, still not buying
Looks like fun to me. Sticker Star lost my interest, but perhaps this will improve on a lot of it's issues in different ways. I'd like to give it a good chance, but 60 bucks is a lot for me right now.
Also, could have went without the guy talking here. Who approved that and thought it was good? He sounds like he is talking to 3 year olds and getting paid 5 bucks to do so.
I just cannot understand the amount of hate for the narrator! Fitted with the undoubted charm of the trailer. Whatever.
The game looks fun. I'm not sure if we will buy it but it definitely looks good and with dwindling options of Wii U games this should sell well
@Ninten-san "The announcer is so annoying, he sounds like he's trying to make a kid excited or something."
It's almost like Nintendo is trying to appeal to kids in this trailer. Of course it sounds awful to you. You're not a kid and this video is probably not targeted towards you. To every other person who commented on the narrators voice, stop being so uptight. The trailer is obviously aimed at kids given the narration. It sounds annoying to you cause more than likely, you aren't a kid.
I honestly don't get why people constantly have to point that out in certain Nintendo videos or trailers. You gotta realize, Nintendo is a family friendly company that is catered towards children for the most part. Of course their trailers and videos may have undertones of some narrator that sounds annoying to you but appeals to kids. The target demographic for said trailer or video is not you but for those under 12.
I swear, people love to complain about everything these days and throw common sense to the wind. It's really not necessary to attack the narrator who is trying to appeal to a certain audience. Not everything Nintendo makes or does has to appeal to you.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Some interesting color vs colour history for you since apparently you have a hatred for american color.
History
Both spellings are many centuries old. Color, now regarded as the American spelling, in fact predates the United States by several centuries. In early use the spellings vied for ascendancy with several other spellings. Colur, culoure, and coolor, for instance, were all in the mix before the modern British spelling gained permanent prevalence in the 17th century.1 The American preference for color took hold in the middle 19th century thanks in large part to the conscious simplification of English spellings by people such as the lexicographer Noah Webster.
http://grammarist.com/spelling/color-colour/
Dammit Nintendo, put the preorders up already! I care more about this than the NX reveal.
The Super Mario Bros. 3 area did a good job in advertising the game, sometimes a slight hint of nostalgia can turn the tables around when it comes to games - let alone Nintendo ones.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Funny thing is, the spelling of Prism Island sounds weird to me, as I tend to pronounce it as "Prisma" without the last letter instead of, you know, "Pris'm"; it almost sounds like Prison Island from Sonic Adventure 2! That, alongside Color/Colour being a central theme, leads to all sorts of Sonic jokes.
I can understand your frustration, although sadly I'm personally more familiar with American spellings than their originary counterparts. Theater instead of theatre, color instead of colour, the list goes on. [WARNING - Random lengthy piece of Italo-Irish trivia to follow] If it can cheer you up, a singer from my country made a song that's a love letter to - as said in the title - the Irish sky. It's a joyful, Irish...ish song.
Il cielo d'Irlanda è un oceano di nuvole e luce (The Irish sky is an ocean of clouds and light)
il cielo d'Irlanda è un tappeto che corre veloce (the Irish sky is a carpet that runs fast)

@SLIGEACH_EIRE We ALL know, well, those with a brain cell at least. The American`s took our language, and ruined it for themselves. Just as they took our Law System, and again, butchered it to meet their own stupid standards.
I bought my last Paper Mario the day I picked up Sticker Star for $17. And less than two hours later was selling it back to a different store because of how awful it was.
If Nintendo ever releases a port of TTYD I'll buy that, but otherwise my time with Paper Mario is done.
By the way, here's another overview video, showing other elements:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geXuvL3o78M
Chill, people. Language evolves differently in different regions.
This game is looking great. I'm getting a copy for sure.
@Ninten-san
OK, have you ever watched some Kids TV programs such as Play-House Disney, Hi-5, Dora the Explorer, etc ?
If you annoyed also by their voices, i don't know how i'm suppose to say...
Please, the audiences are KIDS. You can't expect the trailer must be in adult game trailer style. Same case if you want to communicate with younger kids. You can't talk with them just like you talk with an adult people. You have to CHANGE your voice tone to make them understand or attracted. Otherwise, they might ignore every single your words.
Farewell
I will happily purchase Paper Mario: Colour Splash whereas I am not entirely sure about purchasing Paper Mario: Color Splash.
All said and done, it looks to be quite a good game however.
@dougphisig
Interesting...
I think for PAL version, it will be Colour Splash and some artwork changes. Just like Sticker Star before.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE The reason the word "color" exists btw was because it was included in a list of how to make words easier to spell by the American Spelling Board made more than a century ago. (I'm getting this from memory but you can look it up if you want) Other changed words include center, originally centre, labor originally labour, and a hundred other words that would take TOO long to list. People just sort of stuck with it.
@dougphisig Dang it, you beat me to it! I looked at your comment after I posted mine ha ha
So wii u is for kids and the target audience is kids only. What about the rest of humanity
@Ikramali
Duh...!
Nintendo is somewhat like Disney brands.
Of course aimed mostly 90% towards younger audiences and families.
Do you mind if Nintendo aimed for younger audiences so much ?
And what's wrong if Adult people like to play kiddie or general games ?
@akaDv8R Just like we took your colonies, and made our own country
@Anti-Matter oh sorry I didn't know Nintendo only targeted the younger audience. I play video games with my kids but I also play on my own and wife.
Oh nothing wrong with adults playing kiddie games. You can play kiddie games as much as you like.
But maybe that's where Nintendo went wrong, by targeting your so called 90% kids only.
@TheRedCap30 Yes, quite true, we did give you America to be honest. If it wasn't for Britain, America would be a very different place than it is today.
Just cannot understand why you took our language, and chopped and changed it so much, it is a wonder you still call it ENGLISH.
@Anti-Matter Nintendo is not a Disney like brand. God help us all
@Ikramali
Your comment always so cynical. Gosh...!
Whatever you said, i'm happy with my Nintendo games and Blah Blah Blah your cynical comments. Enjoy your day !
@Anti-Matter don't get upset. Nothing wrong with playing your kiddie games. Play to your hearts content
@Ikramali Nintendo has been targeting kids since the 1980's. Just because a trailer is focused on a certain audience does not mean an adult can't play it or can't see the appeal as well. See, most mature adults don't care about how a game is presented. As long as it's fun, they'll play it, regardless of the target audience or how it's presented in trailers. Just because you haven't matured and are still stuck on trying to appear "mature," does not mean you are. Your immaturity and lack of confidence in your own maturity is noted.
Have fun with continually trying to be "mature" and act like your above fun games with a colourful art style or whimisical trailer. I'm sure that will get you far in life and you won't come out as some cynical tool who belittles others from enjoying content that's targeted towards kids. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and downright immature.
@allav866 I feel like it was almost intentional... but didn't succeed.
@allav866 Also has a bit of a Shatner to his voicing.
@Anti-Matter It should also be Colour Splash here in Canada, sadly we'll be stuck with Color Splash, darn USA and it's "influence"
@james_mueller Shatner would have been PERFECT.
I've played all Paper Mario games, and preferred them over the Mario & Luigi series, so I'm not keen on the direction change. However, they've still been fun. Sticker Star was just above meh for me, and this looks to be shaping up better than it. However, not day 1. I'll be waiting on this one and picking it up it it becomes a "Select".
@RoomB31 Agreed! He has a bit, just not enough to make it over the top and wonderfully bad.
You lost me at "pick a card to fight"
Some pretty cool stuff there.
Do want!
This game looks amazing !!! I can't wait for this ... The funny thing that the same people hating this game are the same people who wrote a comment such as "amazing can't wait to buy and try it !!" on a crappy Indi's games that cost 15$ on e shop
Day 1 buy for me! The Mario 3 is so awesome!!
@Captain_Gonru "Dork"? Very funny, pretty much what to expect really.
I would bother to type an" intelligent " response, but fear it would be a waste of time. Plus, I have to go and replace the" aluminum " on my shed.
@Captain_Gonru Until they reconfirm a Wii U version when the NX is announced I wouldn't go that far. Never forget FFXV and The Last Guardian. Until then, assume Color Splash is the last Wii U Nintendo game.
@Captain_Gonru That last poorly written sentence was meant to imply my last "Day 1" Wii U purchase. Zelda wont 'be Day 1, we'll wait for reviews, and video that actually shows game content, not just a physics engine. And how different it is on NX.
We will buy more Wii U games I'm sure, it's our go to for multiplayer family fun, so I'm sure there will be another Lego game or something like that. PS4 will only have 1 controller for awhile, those things are expensive.
@Ikramali @Ikramali The most IMMATURE comment a person can say is, "You should NOT be playing that game, you should be playing this game". Seriously, you only play games with a rating of 18 and above or something?
@Grumblevolcano I thought I was the only person wondering when Nintnedo would say "Please understand, to make Zelda Wild the game we wanted it to be we needed to move it to NX." Kind of late for that to happen at this point, but it's also late to announce NX.
Also, precedent has been set on Ntinedo hardware - Starfox Adventures began life as Dinosuar Planet on N64, and Pikmin 3 began life as a 3DS game before getting moved to Wii U.
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/miyamoto-explains-why-3ds-pikmin-prototype-was-canned/1100-6412159/
Which is funny reading Myamoto's comments b/c now Pikmin (4?) is coming to 3DS. Guess when Wii U sales plummeted he figured out a way to get it to work on 3DS after all.
I don't really expect Zelda Wild to skip Wii U, probably far enough along even if it looks like Hyrule Warriors Legends on old 3DS compared to New 3DS on NX, they can still release it, it will just make it easier for them to sell more NX hardware. But I wouldn't be surprised if they canned it.
@Lucina
I think the narrator is serviceable for kids, but he's clearly not a professional. You are spot-on about grown-up Nintendo fans wanting to be the audience for everything Nintendo does, but that is a separate issue from using a staff member to voice a trailer. We've all become used to amateur videos through YouTube and some amateurs have become millionaires. I expect Nintendo feels that it's a quick way to save a buck in the current digital climate. I just don't like the idea of offering kids lower quality than you would adults in general, but this is a minor, if humorous (alt: humourous) offense.
@rjejr My thinking is them maybe canning it to force people to buy NX. If you have a choice between a game on 2 platforms you may go for the older platform if you don't really care about the new platform. Combine that with the negativity surrounding the Eurogamer leaks and you may see BotW doing better on Wii U if a Wii U version exists.
@Lucina such a mature comment. Play whatever u want.
It's a Internet forum where opinions are shared. Don't be upset. Good boy
Is it so hard to accept the fact that COLOUR can also be written COLOR due to millions of people writing it this way too? Times are changing, people are changing and so it is the language and the spelling of words. It's called evolution and it happens all the time.
@rjejr You actually think BotW could possibly be canned on Wii U??
Box Art, gameplay, never mind the thousands of hours of work that has gone into it (yaya I know it wouldn't be fully wasted), the Wii U's high profile last hurrah, to ultimately scrap it?
Also, we already have a precedent for this, it's called Twilight Princess, so BotW Wii U will definitely be released.
@Captain_Gonru I took a photo of a PMCS $5 pre-order card at Target the other day, I was so excited to see something Wii U related being advertised. I'll buy it on Amazon w/ my 20% off Prime savings, but it was still good to see. Didn't notice Zelda, but I wasn't looking either.
@Grumblevolcano "My thinking is them maybe canning it to force people to buy NX. "
Makes sense. But that would just cause so much animosity from the 1 mil or so Wii U owners who would have purchased it but would then become MS or Sony fans in a fit of rage. Another 1 mil fans would buy an NX just to play it. Another 1 or 2 mil fans were already planning on getting an NX to play it anyway.
Would still be a big negative PR blow while tying to launch a new console, or 2, probably not worth the risk. Now if Zelda Wild really doesn't run well on Wii U, that's a different story. And I haven't seen much of the game that was pushing the hardware - no giant boss fights or Hyrule castle filled w/ people - so it's possible they just can't get it to run. Maybe walk at 10-15 FPS, but not run at 30.
Would have been better without the narrator. :/
@RoomB31 Did you actually think Ntinedo would announce in March 2015 that they were working on a console code-named NX, then announce it was launching in March 2017, but they still haven't shown us what it is or what it's called?
If your ok w/ no news on NX yet, then I'm ok w/ Zelda Wild on Wii U.
Also, have you see any scenes in Zelda Wild yet of great boss battles or lots of people on screen at once? Maybe Wii U just can't handle it? The game was supposed to release in 2015 - that's what NInteod said, twice, 2015 - then it was supposed to release in 2016, so can we really take Nintnedo at their word over this game?
Will it come out on Wii U? Probably. Would I bet my house on it? No. And if you bet anything on the game releasing in 2015 or 2016, guess what, you lost. When Nintneod shows me some actual footage of a lot of stuff happening all at once on screen, then I'll believe it more. Or a release date. The game was due out in 2015, 2016, now 2017, and it still doesn't have a date. March isn't a date, and March doesn't even exist anymore. They showed the game off for 3 days at E3, no date. Official website only says 2017.
http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-wii-u
So will it come out on Wii U? Well after all of those amiibo reveals I certainly hope so. But this is Nintendo we're dealing w/, expect the unexpected.
@rjejr I'm not sure what no NX news has to do with the Wii U version of BotW, not directly anyways.
yes, the game has seen multiple delays, So has FFXV, so has the Last Guardian, but that doesn't make them any less likely to come out for their respective platforms. BotW in 2015 would not be the game it's setup to become now. maybe those aren't the best examples seeing as how they've been in development for eternities, but they were never playable, where as BotW has only be playable on Wii U.
I don't think BotW is a game with "lots of people on screen at once" and if that is the game you are looking for, I don't think the NX version will change your mind. Thus far it's about a solo quest for survival, this has even been stated by Nintendo, so I don't expect to see many many people on screen (ala Hyrule Warriors or any other action game).
Don't bet your house because you are right, Nintendo is unpredictable.
I'm not sure you should posit new Amiibo for guaranteeing the Wii U version, (which is weird anyways since you're apt to believe it is likely to be canned) because I'd think (those of us who like amiibo anyways) that Nintendo will continue with amiibo functionality in NX.
All I can say is we've seen enough to be convinced it's coming (for Wii U), at least some of us have. And like I said before there's a precedent for this exact thing, with a Zelda game no less, to release simultaneously on two consoles. They (consoles) are not the same, they are not competing, the Wii U is dead, Nintendo knows this, they knew it with the GC when they release Twilight Princess, so I don't see any reason to not recoup some of their expenses on a Wii U release.
The game actually looks pretty good, but not for the battle elements by any means.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
You're not going to believe this, but advertising campaigns are tailored to the company they are being released in.
Color, Armor, get over it.
@Ikramali
Every setence is correct in your post. It is alright to make kiddie games. It is also where Nintendo went wrong.
When i was a kid, gaming wasnt really cool, like at all (im 32 now). It evolved to be something that was cool and for adults also, and continued evolving to where adults and the "cool crowd" probably make up the majority nowadays.
Nintendo didnt evolve with it.
@rjejr
While BoTW has seen 2 delays, and each killed me, it's worth noting that barring majoras mask for obvious reasons, 3d zeldas always take about 5 years to make, so the original 2015 was too ambitious, especially conssidering this is the biggest one. Why would it take a year less than usual to make a bigger one. The new release window represents the typical 5 year window and a little extra time to make it bigger, different, and with a fancy physics engine.
Nintendo would be wise to majoras mask a title or 2 to make waits easier.
@RoomB31 "so has the Last Guardian"
Maybe you didn't know, but TLG was a PS3 games releasing on the PS4. TLG was shown off at E3 in 2009 long before the PS4 arrived. It's probably the absolute worst game you could have chosen to defend Zelda on Wii U b/c it's probably THE best example of how Zelda Wild could get booted off of Wii U.
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-last-guardian-for-ps3-would-have-been-compromi/1100-6428488/
If Zelda Wild did get pulled off of Wii U, I would expect an article almost exactly like that - compromises, frame rates, performance, technical challenges.
I'm still not expecting it will get pulled off, just that I woudln't be shocked to hear that it did.
@LetsGoRetro "Why would it take a year less than usual to make a bigger one."
I'll answer that question when you answer this one - Why would Ntindo announce hat it would only take 4 years to make a game that they knew would take 5? I'm not the one guessing how long it takes to make a Zelda game, they are the ones telling me how long it takes to make a Zelda game. Shouldn't they know better than I do how long that should take? Isn't that what they are being paid for?
"and a little extra time to make it bigger, different, and with a fancy physics engine."
It's that bigger and different fancy physics engine that worries me to think they could decide to take it off of Wii U. They really wouldn't want to, too much anger, but they'd rather put out a good game on NX than a 5-10 frame per second slide show on Wii U.
@rjejr
except you see for the simple fact that BotW was playable on Wii U @ E3, the same E3 that The Last Guardian was finally playable.... so... there's that.
Putting the game in the hands of people create some sense that it is indeed a real thing, that it is actually coming.
@LetsGoRetro thanks man. Totally agree.
@Captain_Gonru "Meanwhile, another never seems to put them out at all."
Crack that whip!!
@LetsGoRetro
Good thing that they didn't "evolve" with it. I'd argue that the narrative of false maturity is more a problem in the gaming community than a good thing.
And what's about the people insulting American English? It's as much English as British English or any other variant. Languages change. There is an attempt to unify the Portuguese spoken in different countries. While this would be convenient, at the same time I feel it's completely unneccessary. Let languages be what they are. It makes the world a much more interesting place.
Looks pretty, but that is the only real difference I see between this and Sticker Star. I thought Sticker Star was alright, but doesn't hold a candle to any of the previous Paper Marios. I'll judge it properly when I get it, but honestly, I'm not expecting anything noteworthy from this game. Also, no offence to the narrator, but the narration was annoying.
Zelda will be cancelled for Wii U as much as Yarn Yoshi and FExSMT were cancelled.
While it could happen, right now it is really unlikely and I don't think there is any reason to discus the possibility.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Not our fault you folks add unnecessary letters to words. Good thing we sorted that out for you.
Not only is the spelling of "colour" wrong but also the text isn't symmetrical and if it was spelled properly, the "S" in Splash would have a corresponding colour(orange) in "Colour".
Paper Mario: Colour(6 letters, 6 colours) Splash(6 letters, 6 colours). Poor spelling, poor design.
Awesome! Haters gonna hate but gamers gonna game!
Even though I greatly dislike the path this series is going, I have to admit that the graphics are absolutely gorgeous (top 5 in the Wii U library?) and the music is not bad at all.
Unfortunately the card battle system looks kind of bland (HP units are gone now too?) and I don't see many new and unique characters. It does look like IS is trying though (as seen in the video), with maybe Miyamoto putting stops on new and unique characters.
I'll prolly end up buying this game in December for my siblings and me to play (they're finally old enough to know how to play PM). Let's hope it drops from 60$ before then! >o<
@akaDv8R its basically different dialects I guess. Maybe if people called it AMERICAN English or BRITISH English it would be a lot easier because its not in the broad category of just "English"
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
@Captain_Gonru Ikr! I was watching a few tutorials for a CAD class of mine, and the fact the British narrator kept pronouncing aluminum with the extra "i" kept throwing me off. "Al-loo-min-nium? What's that?" Every language has its own quirks ha ha.
This should be my Christmas day game this year, by the looks of it.
@akaDv8R While we're talking about ruining languages, you should have written, "The Americans took our language, and ruined it for themselves", not "The American`s took our language, and ruined it for themselves".
If you're going to attack the language of an entire country, it'd be good if you could master one of the most basic grammatical elements of your own.
The apostrophe should be used for marking the possessive case, or for marking the omission of letters, not for pluralisation (except in rare cases such as marking the plurals of individual letters).
Proof, if it were needed, that the British can ruin their own language without outside help. But who would let that get in the way of a jolly bit of jingoism? It's back in fashion after all!
Anyway, the game's looking great. What a relief!
@AlexSora89 lol
this looks fantastic
I love it the more you hate it, haters.
I so love the art style!
Story reminds me of de Blob.
And the gameplay mechanics look really good, the things with the colours and everything.
And that Super Mario Bros. 2 part where they change the perspective like in Paper Mario Wii made me really curious!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE No, but America created American English (and there are also other dialects than British and American English). And the US market is a lot bigger than the UK market. I still prefer spelling it 'colour' but I can understand why they didn't. And honestly, I couldn't care less.
@Ninten-san
If you get annoyed by the voice tone like that, fine.
But that advertising for EVERYONE, i mean for all people who watch that trailer whether you like or not. Maybe you don't like but other people may like.
@LetsGoRetro
I'm sorry but Nintendo brand is somewhat like Disney.
You can't expect Nintendo evolving become like Sony with TONS of Adult content. And if you don't like Kiddie or Family oriented games, fine BUT don't insulting people who enjoy the game like this. What's wrong if adult people enjoy this game or Appropriate games for everyone ? There's nothing wrong with that.
Gosh...! Some people here feel disgust towards gamer who like Kiddie or Games for Everyone.
@King_Johobo It's the same vibe I received.
they hate us 'cause they anus
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/color?s=t
this settles it unless you're a big loser
@TheRedCap30 The British narrator wasn't pronouncing "aluminum" with a strange extra "i", he was saying "aluminium" which is how we spell it. It's just another word Americans spell differently to us, but in this case (unlike words like color/colour or gray/grey) it does actually change the way the word sounds.
this game is looking better and better I agree with @rjejr this will probably be my last Wii U purchase.... waiting to see how BOTW looks on NX
Also, this game has the potential to be like Yarn Yoshi... a great game that most people might not ever experience
@Rawden
Hoo... i see.
Usually i heard Aluminium instead of Aluminum.
@arrmixer
Don't worry. I'll get Color Splash soon.
Wow, this is actually really impressive stuff.
I was hyped for this game already- I mean, it's always looked good. But after seeing this trailer, I think I'm more excited for Color Splash than I was for 3D World.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
What a narcissistic viewpoint. As if your little island in the sea holds monopoly on global language and spelling. Language evolves and adapts. Spelling evolved and adapts. If you wanna moan about butchered language, you should first pull out a King James Bible and see how much you've butchered your own in the last 500 years before complaining about the spelling of words in a country half way around the world from you.
Good grief, this is what our fan site has devolved into... complaints about the spelling of "color". Who needs to talk about games when we can just argue about this all day
It looks amazing!
@Ikramali You're correct. It's an Internet forum where opinions can be shared. As such, I have ever right to crap on your condescending tone towards those who enjoy games that are family friendly or are meant for kids. And I'm not upset, I'm just bothered by people like you actually exist with this mindset of, "If it ain't a "mature" game, it ain't worth playing it." Or "This ad is clearly targeted towards a younger audience, but I feel the need to attack it despite the fact that it seems not intended for me."
If you're going to talk trash to others, you better stand your ground when others confront you instead of backing off with weak comments and backpeddling. Just a suggestion.
@Ninten-san Good for you. You're probably above the age of 12 and hence the trailer won't appeal to you. But a younger audience will resonate with the way the narrator is speaking, and it's really not a surprise bad as everyone is making it out to be. As usual, the Internet loves to complain about the smallest of things. The video did its job. It got more people interested and engaged and that's good enough.
@Lucina read my comment properly maybe you misunderstood it. I have kids who also play the wii u. Have over 25 wii u games however none of them are rated mature but I wouldn't call it kiddie games. Is new super Mario bros u, Mario kart 8 splatoon kiddie games.
I think you totally miss the point. And if the target audience for Nintendo is kids which say was 90% you can see why wii u failed.
@Ikramali They're games for everyone, of course. But just because the narrator sounds super cheesy doesn't mean it's a bad ad and kids won't care. Nintendo, when making ads or trailers, generally is kinda cheesy, but in a fun, quirky way. I personally think people took the narration of this video a little too serious and started ragging on Nintendo for being too kiddy. It's one video out of many that they've released thus far for Colour Splash. They've already tried to appeal to everyone with those Toad Ranger videos. One video won't affect how others view it, especially if they're concentrating on the content that is being shown.
Regardless of how the narrator came across or who Nintendo was trying to appeal with this video, there's really no need to rag on the cheesiness of this narrator given how light hearted Paper Mario games are. I think people need to lighten up and focus on what really matters. That's mainly what I'm trying to get across.
And honestly, ya, I def misunderstood you cause of the way it was worded, but I understand now. Apologies for being rather aggressive.
@arrmixer Yarn Yoshi was great, and it even made great use of the yarn Yosi amiibo. And I dont even like 2D platformers but that game was really well done. Mellow mode for the win.
That screenshot: Mario bros 3 love. Nice!
@Lucina
I get your point, but I wasn't like that when I was 12.
@Ninten-san
Nintendo and Disney is somewhat similar. I said somewhat, not exactly 100% same. They have some similarity from their franchises, though both of them also have some Teens content such as Star Wars (Owned by Disney now) or Fire Emblem (from Nintendo). Also, Nintendo is Japanese (Eastern) and Disney is American (Western).
About the Paper Mario Color Splash, Nintendo just only did their jobs. Whether you like or not the narrator voice, Nintendo have to think first the person that might be ideal for that advertising. Of course there will be a lot of reactions, between Yay or Nah. If you unsatisfied by that narrator voice, you can mute it. One example, Dora the Explorer. You can't give Dora voice with mature woman voice (It won't be fit and sounds unfriendly). Instead, Dora voice must be sounds like kiddie that might be sounds cheesy / annoying for some people. But kids will react positively despite of annoying voices for adults. Just don't mind that. Try to embrace it.
Got it ? Have a nice day.
@maceng lol I'm not sure whether to feel sorry for him or whether to punch him in the face
@JaxonH You haven't a clue what you're talking about. I live in Ireland, take some lessons on the history of my country. And take some geography lessons while you're at it.
I wonder what way the Australians spell it, the New Zealanders? I wonder too what way "English" language students are taught how to spell words like "coloUr"?
I've expressed my views on the game in general. I made a 1 line comment about "colour" and look at the debate it generated.
@Anti-Matter
I can't hear the information about this game if I mute the narrator voice. Dora and Super Mario are different, I think everyone on this site can agree with me on that.
Have a nice day you too!
@Rawden Huh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the clarification!
@Shy_Guy
Same here. I'm even counting down the days (22 left) until release.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Because you were rude and condescending about it.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
The only one not getting it is you. Here is what I'm talking about, for you once again- language changes. I don't know how much more simple I can put it. I don't care if you live in Ireland- you speak English don't you? And that English was different a few hundred years ago, no?
Ok then.
Never seen such a lack of common sense in my life. The only rebuttal you ever make seems to be "but I'm in this country". As if that changes anything.
@JaxonH No you're not getting it and it's pointless pointing out everything to you. But just look at your tone and how you started out shall we?
"As if your little island in the sea holds monopoly on global language and spelling."
My little island is Ireland not Great Britain. Big difference. I could continue but like so often before it would be futile explaining any more to you.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
I never said it was great Britain. I said Island. Man it's like talking to a brick wall with you.
And it doesn't matter. It's all the same. Ireland, Britain, Wales, Scotland... You're missing the point totally and utterly- you currently speak English, and that language has changed. IN IRELAND. YES, IN IRELAND. IN YOUR COUNTRY
I need to just start slapping myself the next time I think about responding to you and save myself the headache
@JaxonH "It's all the same. Ireland, Britain, Wales, Scotland..."
As I said, you're clueless. They are not all the same. Stop quoting my name in future please as I'm not interested and it's annoying.
A few hundred years ago, Ireland mostly spoke Irish. We've the English and their colonial ways for Irish not being our main language anymore. There's a whole tonne of history there.
Edit: You've edited your previous post now.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Are you drunk?
I am aware that they are different countries. It applies to them all the same. THE POINT REMAINS all the same. It doesn't matter which country in that list you pick, it applies all the same
Nobody can actually be that slow. Surely. I keep telling myself this and yet every response you make I'm questioning it more and more.
You talked about my island having a monopoly on the English language and spelling. It might surprise you to know that English surprisingly came from England, a part of Great Britain, the island across the Irish Sea from Ireland. Stop now, you're embarrassing yourself. So no, Ireland doesn't have a monopoly on the English language. And I told you to stop quoting my name please.
@rjejr
yeah I prefer the 3D variety. I even thought Mario 3D was decent just because I love 3D platforms that much I was starving for one no matter what it was but this one was a classic just like yoshi's Island.
@Anti-Matter
Hey that's wasup Anti-Matter I'll join in the fun with ya!!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
You don't have to act all high and mighty when you started it with saying the American spelling is butchered. Because languages change, in 100 years the British English spelling might be color, or even something completely else, like kolour or kolor or col'r.
And @JaxonH, trying to have a discussion with him is a lost cause.
@Rin-go
I can't do it man. I just have to throw my hands up and laugh it's so ridiculous lol
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
You wanna talk nonsense you're gonna get called on it. Don't wanna get called out? Stop talking nonsense then.
"Embarrassing yourself"
lol, I'm sure you think so in that little mind of yours. I'm embarrassed all right, for you.
@Rin-go Great. So you're talking about something that may or may not happen in 100 years time in FantasyLand? We're talking about, here and present in the real world. Americans speak English but took it upon themselves to needlessly slightly alter the spelling of a rake of words in the "English" language. It does nothing but cause confusion. Maybe us Irish should change the spelling of "colour" to "kulur" or the Australians can change it to "culor"? It's called English, not Americanglish. ~shakes head~
Edit: The English language is spoken in over 60 countries around the world but NOA most likely took it upon themselves that their wrong spelling was more important than how all the other countries spell it and everyone else would just have to put up with it.
https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/colour
The Oxford English dictionary is like the Bible of the English language. Notice how they reference the US spelling. Do you see any other country tinkering with spelling and causing hassle?
@JaxonH I've asked you politely several times to stop quoting my name in future. Do it again and I'm reporting you. I don't care what you have to say as it's utter nonsense.
@akaDv8R I agree. Americans are a law unto themselves in so many ways. They think they can do whatever they like.
@rjejr
"I'll answer that question when you answer this one - Why would Ntindo announce hat it would only take 4 years to make a game that they knew would take 5? I'm not the one guessing how long it takes to make a Zelda game, they are the ones telling me how long it takes to make a Zelda game. Shouldn't they know better than I do how long that should take? Isn't that what they are being paid for?"
Well, I'm no developer, but there is obviously a lot that goes into development that is hard to account for, given how delays happen very often to all different companies, no matter how talented and/or knowledgeable they are of the industry. My personal opinion is that when the game was being developed early on, the priority was getting it out to help the Wii U sell well but as time went on and they realized nothing was going to save the console, they probably figured they might as well put more into it to make it a really special experience for the next console. But, who knows?
"It's that bigger and different fancy physics engine that worries me to think they could decide to take it off of Wii U. They really wouldn't want to, too much anger, but they'd rather put out a good game on NX than a 5-10 frame per second slide show on Wii U."
Personally, I think they would be wise to take it off Wii u and essentially "force" Wii U owners to upgrade to NX, from a business sense. But it seems it's a dual release as of now.
