This weekend, on 27th February, the Pokémon series celebrates 25 years since the launch of the original Game Boy titles.
There have already been rumours floating about and now the official Pokémon Twitter account seems to be joining in on the fun. It's currently doing a countdown featuring different generations of pocket monsters. With four days remaining, it's shared the following tweet, saying "Let's go, Sinnoh".
Despite the fact the same account has referenced other Pokémon games and generations in its daily countdown, this particular tweet has some fans quite excited.
The Sinnoh region was first introduced in the fourth generation alongside Pokémon Diamond & Pearl for Nintendo DS.
In case you forgot, last month, Spanish fansite Centro Pokémon reportedly confirmed Switch remakes of the DS titles Pokémon Diamond & Pearl were in development and would be revealed around the time of Pokémon Day, on 27th February.
"Pokémon Center can confirm that, according to sources close to the company, remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl , originally released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS, are in development for the Nintendo Switch ."
A much older rumour dating back to 2019 suggests possible remakes of Diamond and Pearl would feature "let's go catching" (the catching mechanic first featured in the Pokémon: Let's Go games). Centro Pokémon has said new versions wouldn't be like this, but instead closer in style to the original 2006 releases.
Since its original report, Centro Pokémon is still just as confident something "big" is on the way - with its Twitter account last week tweeting out a message that fans "won't have to wait until Pokémon Day on February 27 for the big news" (translation by Google). Attached to this is a clip of the legendaries from Diamond, Pearl and Platinum:
If that's not already enough, it appears the Poké Ball Plus (first released alongside the Let's Go games) is getting a timely reprint. Last year we saw reprints of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild champions which eventually led to the announcement of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
Keep in mind, we're just days out from Pokémon's 25th anniversary, so all will be revealed soon. What do you make of this yourself? Leave a comment down below.

A remaster of Pokemon Diamond And Pearl could tempt me, but if it's of the Let's Go Style it won't.
So the past 3 days didn't mean much? Gen 6,7,8 ?
Hope so, I loved Let's Go Pikachu
Quite like the Let's Go games, this might be interesting.
It's literally just that it rhymes. They've been posting tweets with wacky catchphrases related to each gen daily.
Sorry, but this is clickbait. Pokemon has been counting down to Pokemon Day for the past 3 days, with an older generation each time. While there may be a major announcement this weekend, this tweet doesn't give us any clue about that.
They’ve literally just been doing a countdown. Yes Sinnoh remakes are likely, but this is just fishing for hints where there aren’t any.
Nope. This is just a part of the countdown. "Let's Go" was a poor choice of words, and now it's causing people to speculate. It's also important to note that the Pokeball Plus getting a reprint means nothing as well. The Pokeball plus itself can be used with Sword and Shield, in order to walk around with your pokemon. Seeing as Sword and Shield supported that, it's probably for that reason it might get a reprint.
I hope it isnt the lets go style, Id rather they don't do all remakes like that, I wouldn't buy it if it was or at least you could turn the go mechanic off
Please don't ruin this game for me I have never played please game freak.
easy to shrug off, but it reminds me of all the hints they dropped for the first let's go games. If they announce let's go gen 4, it will be a blood bath. honestly after let's go p/e and sw/sh, I want nothing to do with these games until they make a substantial leap in game design.
I doubt another Let's Go game would happen already, especially a Sinnoh-themed one. It would be odd for them to jump from Kanto all the way past Johto and Hoenn to Sinnoh. It doesn't make a lot of sense. I think the Twitter account was just being cheeky.
And don't forget that the Poke Ball Plus was usable in Sword and Shield as well in that you could put a Pokémon into it, walk with it, and send it back with items. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought that back for whatever the next game is since that game is likely based off SwSh's engine.
I wouldn't mind the Let's Go mechanic for the actual catching of the Pokémon. However, there should still be random battles with Pokémon like in the normal games.
@Crockin Either way this week's gonna be a bloodbath. No games revealed? People get outraged. Games revealed but it's not what they want? People will outrage. Games revealed but it's let's go styled, people will outrage. Either way there's no actual winning.
@ianl579 Yes, but no. There has been lots of chatter about this image on other sites like Reddit. It's because people have been sharing it without explaining that it is part of a larger countdown.
BRACE FOR IMPACT! 😬😬😬
@VoidofLight I mean, they could just announce what people want--that would be a win. Look at the overwhelmingly positive response to New Pokémon Snap. The Pokémon Company, and Nintendo as a whole, doesn't have to make their games as divisive as they choose to.
I loved the Let's Go games, they were colourful and with great graphics . I Also enjoyed them cause they where simple without super stressing competitive b*sh*it , just a relaxing journay with a very cozy nostalgic feeling ! The way a proper pokemon game should be ! If we finaly have 4rth gen remakes i d loved it to be that style !!
Should've known...I'm truly done with Pokemon at this point, besides the spinoffs anyways. I'm still playing the New Snap, unless they somehow manage to screw that one up as well. >_>
That's pretty blatant
I'm hoping for a Sinnoh remake but I doubt this means anything, especially a Let's Go version.
Im ok with another Let’s Go game. I didn’t spend anywhere near as much time with it as I did Sword (345 hours vs 55 hours) but I enjoyed the bright, fun style of the game. I feel like Let’s Go games could allow mainline games to have two year cycles by alternating releases. No matter what, more Pokemon games is a win for me.
The wait just might kill me. I pray this is just a coincidence because Let’s Go is way too basic.
My Dialga and Palkia warped space and time to tell me that this is unsubstantiated gossip. That, or my uncle who used to work for Nintendo but just sits around swearing at the TV all day has been drugging me again.
Is this kind of speculation warranted considering that we're just three days away from an official announcement? :/
Either way, I think there's little doubt in anybody's minds that there will either be a Gen II or IV remake due this year. In fact, I had a peculiar dream about Pokémon Platinum last night, so that could be a sign.
No no no no noooooooo.
I've been waiting years for this remake and they are going to ruin it with the "let's go" mechanics and dated art style.
This will have to be the first pokemon game I won't own
I'm passing on these if they're more Let's Go games. I need my random battles.
Let's Go gameplay mechanism was better on handheld mode but terrible on console mode.
I still refuse to touch the Lets Go games, certainly not as full priced games. I'd like to the TPC and GF aren't that stupid, but I don't even know anymore.
@ImagineerNik I did too especially as a remake and I didnt mind that we captured pokemon instead of battle them
The only thing I find disappointing is how mind numbingly easy it is, I find myself just not really putting any thought into what moves I use
Could of used a harder mode, unless it does as I've not even completed it yet tho I am nearing the end, just kinda got burnt out before finishing it
Infact I've been tempted to pick up either sword, or shield.. assuming they offer a better challenge then let's go does
I'm one of those that never kept following pokemon after 1st gen, and never played the games outside the ones on gameboy and pokemon stadium on the 64.
So with that and the fact a lot of people on here trash sword & shield as a pretty mediocre pokemon game I'm still unsure if it's worth me buying
@Not_Soos That's the thing though, a lot of people have expectations that are too high, and want a game that realistically wouldn't even come out. I get wanting gamefreak to do more, but it's not really up to the developers. The TPC cares more about the merch and anime than they do the games, knowing that the games will sell well no matter what. It sucks honestly, but it's the state of the series. Alienating core fans for more money..
4 days, gen 4, nothing more. (For the time being)
Shouldn't really be put under "news" imo
If its a DPP redo. Great! I'll buy it. If its a Let's Go, forget it.
Wow I see that NL's firing on all its sleuthing cylinders! What a breakout story!
And then they wonder why we don't take their reporting seriously...
People speculate about a Switch Pro with far less evidence. I think it's obvious this will be another Let's Go game and it won't require a Switch Pro.
Why is the offcial countdown for Pokemon Day be considered a 'hint' when we just have other generations before it? Does that mean their will be a remake of those games now? This is just grasping straws. Also TPCI's doesn't distribute the game so I don't know why they would be hyping it up when they look after things like the show, cards, toys etc. The only company that looks after the games are GameFreak and Nintendo.
I say just wait and see what the 27th would bring by lowering expectations. It's more fun and exciting when you don't put your heart towards the idea of something you were expecting, that's the problem with selfhype culture.
May just be a sword and shield addition
Folks get so up in arms over the articles posted on here. Like it's the end of the world to post speculation or rumors. It absolutely isn't hurting anyone. If the issue is unrealistic expectations, well that's on the individual reading these articles and not knowing how to keep their expectations in check
@tom91 I think it's because that particular tweet uses the term "Let's Go", due to that being the title to previous remade games. So I can understand why the speculation arose. I can also understand connecting the dots and thinking it's a clue considering the phrase being attached to remakes prior and that particular generation rumored to be getting remakes. I'm not saying I personally think it's a clue. If Gen 4 is getting remakes, they may not even be called titled "Let's Go". But again, I can see why those dots are connected
Years ago I'd get hyped thinking about a remake of D&P and also B&W. Now i don't trust them to make the same charming games from the ds era
@tom91 25th will be the announcement. 25th anniversary. 27th, Pokemon day will be for festivities
@Tim_Vreeland - I haven't heard anything about the 25th being the day for announcements other than a special Pikachu being distributed for S&S.
How come every time Pokémon tweets something with the word Sinnoh in it, it instantly sparks rumours?
They are just counting down just like they did with Resident Evil.
But a new Pokemon game would make sense to happen. Whether its Diamond and Pearl remake or a sequel to Let's go, it will be welcome.
I'm not gonna lie. I don't want a new "Let's Go" game. I really don't. It's just a watered down experience across the board. The only good thing about the first Let's Go spinoff was that shiny hunting was pretty interesting and viable.
But the thing that keeps me most interested in Pokemon beyond those initial single player playthroughs, is the competitive multi-player. Let's Go was terrible in that regard.
And after Sword and Shield, going back to a Let's Go title would feel like such a major step backward. Don't regress, take what SW/SH did right and build on that and fix what it did wrong!
@Tim_Vreeland Nope. If anything happens, It'll be Friday, since I assume they wouldn't just announce the next big game without a direct of some sort. The thing is, they just released a twitch streaming schedule, where every day except Friday they're doing something. They wouldn't do a direct the day that their twitch is streaming, so that mainly just leaves Friday.
Please delete this garbage article or rename it to "Did The Official Pokémon Twitter Account Just Teased A Death Of Pokémon Franchise?"...
I can see the catching mechanic being included as an option but not the whole Let’s Go stuff. Can’t do VGC that way. Let’s go was a spin off anyway not a mainline game.
Is the purple one supposed to look like a massive wiener or do I have some sort of repressed psychological trauma I need to sort through?
No. No to this "rumour" and no, I don't have someting [sic] else to say.
I’d love another let’s go game. I’m kinda emotionally attached to my eevee though. I don’t wanna leave him behind...
If this is Let's Go Sinnoh, and not legitimate remakes, I'm out.
@Ryu_Niiyama I feel you man i took me so long to get that crown for my Pikachu...And so many candies to built a team.....
Smh no they didn't. They did this for the previous generations just a few days ago if im not mistaken.
Seriously did you guys even read the tweet?
@SpaceboyScreams no no wait I think your onto something there
Diamond and Pearl is literally my favorite generation and if they ruin the remake by making it a let's go game, I will be fuming. Ruby and Sapphire got such a great port so if Pokemon messes up my favorite gen, it'll be the nail in the Pokemon coffin for me.
A headline like that and no Prince comment or pun? I am deeply disappointed.
It hasn't even been 3 years since GF could have even started a Let's Go game, it isn't possible.
Pokemon: 6 days Shows picture of Kalos starters
Fans: "..."
Pokemon: 5 days Shows picture of Unova Starters
Fans: "..."
Pokemon: 4 days Shows picture of Sinnoh Sta-
Fans: "HOLY CRAP GUYS DIAMOND AND PEARL REMAKES??? BIG IF TRUE!!!"
@westman98 Presumably in two days when the Johto starters are inevitably used, this will incontrovertible evidence of Let’s Go Johto’s imminent arrival.
Of course, there’s nothing to stop it actually happening, but we should still be a bit pickier about what we consider ‘evidence’.
Half-Life 3 confimed 😎
@Beatrice And if you box your starter, the game can be a bit challenging.
@Nintendan64 I thought you could, though? After all, Let's Go supports handheld mode, and there's not much pokeball waving you can manage therein.
If it's the same style as Sword and Shield(which probably it will be) then it will be a skip for me. As much as I love nostalgia, it just ain't cutting around this time.
Let's Go series aren't bad but for some people they might be turned off because it is apparently very easy.
I am ok with another Let's Go game tho
@nhSnork It's somewhat playable in handheld... but the game wasn't built around it, so it's not the greatest control wise. The optimal way to play is with the Pokeball plus, since it feels like the game was designed with that controller in mind, although the Joycon itself is alright I guess.
Junichi Masuda has done a lot for the Pokemon series and we should be forever grateful to him for that, but ever since the Let's Go games, and you can argue before that, he's been pushing the games further and further towards casual garbage. I'm a super casual Pokemon player with zero interest in training, breeding, and whatnot and I've been bored to tears starting with Sun and Moon.
kinda means jack when previous days had info too.
I mean there was one for gen 3,2, and 1.
Sounds like a click bate article to me, putting significance to things when there are none, and in fairness Nintendo Life do this quite a lot.
It's not a tease, but their wording was definitely intentional. That PR rep woke up and chose violence.
@GrandScribe Its pretty much a given if its an old gen remake, that it will be a follow up to the Lets Go games.
It was already known that there would be a follow up to the Lets GO games, so an old gen remake fits the bill, in time for release later this year.
The next mainline game won´t come until next year anyway and hardly doubt it´s going to be an old gen remake.
If it is a regular remakes like HGSS or ORAS then yes I will even pre-order both.
If it is Let's Go style I skip them, I made that mistake once by getting the first Let's Go games and I had to force myself to finish them... not fun at all.
@GrandScribe
Yeah I hope that Gamefreak doesnt forget its roots and stops dumbing the gameplay down. Pokemon Blue was more challenging than Sword & Shield.
@VoidofLight All people want is a Diamond and Peal remake done in the style of the remakes and not Let's Go style, all they have to do is do that and everyone is happy.
Please not a lets go game. I want to enjoy garchomp in peace
@WallyWest I’ve seen people want way more than just that though. Some people want it to look drastically different and feel drastically different than any other pokemon game, with megas returning, etc.
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl GO
No for some reason people seem to think that just because gamefreaks games are of a questionable quality that means they are stupid. I really don’t think they would release let’s go sinnoh when they know the sort of people who would get most excited over this game would hate let’s go sinnoh so it would be a really dumb decision to choose to not capitalise on those people and instead make a let’s go game which older fans generally tend to not like
People are so quick to over react... you really think anyone at the Pokémon Company would understand this is a poor choice of words?
This is the most disgusting display of clickbait in the entire world. They've literally been doing the same thing with every gen so don't you idiots dare say its a "Lets Go Sinnoh" leak. Its people like you that make the community toxic, you get everyone's hopes up or make everyone angry and then those same idiots trash all over Pokémon for no reason, just because they didn't get what they wanted or because they don't like what was announced. You and every single poketuber needs to stop this garbage and let Pokémon announce themselves what they're going to do. So stop with this clickbaity garbage BS and just wait till Pokémon day so pokemon can announce what the next thing is going to be.
@Ttimer5 cause these people are idiots and what to pass people off.
@WallyWest that’s a huge generalization. A lot of us don’t want gen 4 remakes, not everyone liked gen 4. There is no way for Pokemon to make all their fans happy because we all want different things.
Sorry Liam, but this is simply clickbait. Please try harder in the future.
if the rumored and higly antecipated remakes of Diamond e Pearl turn up to be in the style of Lets Go, i gonna have Pokémon Company/Game Freak for the rest of my entire gaming life and i done for Pokémon, Pokémon Company/Game Freak don't you dare ruin Diamond e Pearl, do this and you gonna face severe consequeces.
This is barely rumors, not even news
Did their next post tease a Ruby & Saphire remake?
Will the upcoming one tease Gold & Silver?
I'm not saying DP remakes will happen or not but this is no more comfirmation than us getting other remakes aswell.
this would not sell well if they skipped directly to lets go sinnoh
I would definitely take a Let's Go remake for Diamond and Pearl. But I also still want a Let's Go remake for Gold and Silver (I know Heartgold and Soulsilver came out for DS not that long ago but it's my favourite generation and I wanna be selfish with another remake)!
This aged like fine wine.
