Update #2 (Sat 12th Jun, 2021 15:40 BST) And Nintendo of America has now taken the game page down. We can expect to hear more details and see a 'reveal' trailer later today at the Ubisoft Forward event — join us to watch the livestream at 12pm Pacific / 3pm Eastern / 8pm UK / 9pm CEST.
Update (Sat 12th Jun, 2021 12:35 BST): It appears Ubisoft's Switch exclusive has been revealed ahead of schedule, and as rumoured it's a sequel to the 2017 title Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
Nintendo's very own website is the source of the information — revealing the game will be officially known as Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. According to the description, it's coming out next year in 2022 and the amount of players is to be determined.
Here are some screenshots and a bit of extra information about what to expect:
Team up with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi, and their friends on a galactic journey to defeat a malevolent entity and save your Spark companions. Explore planets throughout the galaxy as you uncover mysterious secrets and compelling quests!
- Build your dream team with three heroes from an eclectic roster of nine.
- Take down all new bosses, along with some familiar enemies throughout the galaxy.
- Rescue the adorable Sparks throughout the galaxy, who provide distinct powers that will help you in battle.
- Unleash your heroes' skills but be strategic as you dash your enemies, team jump on your allies, and hide behind covers.
Original story (Fri 11th Jun, 2021 11:00 BST): Well, it's E3 season, and the reality is that companies really struggle to keep secrets at this time of year. One rumoured title appears to have escaped the vault a little under two days ahead of time, taking us back to a rather dramatic Switch rumour from back in the day.
[Note: we've been deliberately obtuse with the headline and lead image so that people just browsing the site or social media aren't spoiled. This approach is very much case-by-case, it's just the call we made this time around.]
When Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle leaked it caused bemusement, and then Ubisoft's E3 event turned public opinion around and got plenty of us excited for the tactical shooter. It's an excellent game, and now 'PracticalBrush12', a leaker with an impressive track record - recently including the likes of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl - has struck again and listed 'Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope'.
Ubisoft Forward will reveal all soon, of course - it's on 12th June at 12pm Pacific / 3pm Eastern / 8pm UK / 9pm CEST. A sequel certainly makes sense - the first was well received and had solid sales, while there was a sense that the development team were hugely passionate about the concept and IPs involved.
We do recommend only following the Reddit source link if you want to be potentially spoiled; the leaker's strong history and the dizzying scope of the list are quite something to behold. Time will tell on how accurate this leak truly is.
Would you be excited to see a Mario + Rabbids sequel?

I would kill for a Might and Magic related game on the Switch!!!
I'll take it. I do wish Ubisoft would give us Red Steel 3, though.
Excited to see it.
Still not played Mario and Rabbids. Doesn't look like the sort of game I would enjoy. Doesn't help that I despise the Rabbids.
I frequent the game leaks subreddit; this leaker has gotten pretty much everything right. I loved Kingdom Battle so a sequel is very enticing.
I'd love a mario Rabbids sequel! I almost never play this type of RPG but somehow adding mario with rabbids made it fun. Remember when everybody cringed and thought it would be awful? They were like yuck rabbids! Well if they found one way for them not to be totally annoying this was it! Still need to finish the DK add on.
I held off playing Donkey Kong Adventure right after immensely enjoying the main game, cause I lost hope in getting a sequel. This way I had at least some new content to look forward to after a second replay. Would be absolutely ecstatic if this turns out to be true. Kingdom Battle is easily in my Switch Top-3.
@MS7000 You're missing out. It's a great game.
Any chance for new Imagine / Petz series ?
Would like to see some new casual games from Ubisoft.
Really enjoyed Kingdom Battle and the DK DLC, so totally on board with a sequel!
Grant Kirkhope has to remain composer too!!
@Slowdive nice! Hopefully that''s a nod he's still involved.
Unless he's composing for the supposed Splinter Cell/Division crossover
I found the previous Mario + Rabbids a bit too technical for my simple brain. Liked the aesthetics, but found the actual strategy a bit tough to get my head around and not so fun. Will give this a miss I think.
Also since the first game UbiSoft and Yves have failed to do anything meaningful about the sexual assault accusations, so there's that.
Really hope this is true, a M+R sequel would make the Ubisoft Forward for me.
Kingdom Battle was a delightful surprise in the Switch's first year.
If they can improve upon that I'd pick it up day one
@Balladeer yeah i only made it to the second world or so
I enjoyed the combat but I couldn't deal with the tedious guff they drag you through between fights. Gave up on it pretty quickly.
Those of you who like Super Mario Galaxy may enjoy this game.
@MS7000 You should give it a go, I loved it!! I think it's on sale at the moment too.
Delighted with this news. The first title was my most pleasant surprise on Switch.
@ian_beale Agree - I really liked the actual combat missions but I was getting really impatient with the inter-level exploration and sliding-block puzzles by the end.
A Mario + Rabbids sequel would be nice but I'd also love to see Ubisoft do a dedicated Starfox followup to Starlink. Just take out all the actual Starlink characters and some of the tedious base-capturing repetition and you could have a perfect Starfox game.
"Sparks of Hope" seems like a pretty dramatic name for a Rabbids game.
Sounds excellent, now I will just be disappointed if it turns out there's no mario & rabbids sequel announced
@B4L0R_CLUB So I hear. To be fair, it probably is, but gameplay wise, it doesn't look like my sort of game.
@MarioBrickLayer Yeah, I normally see the base game on sale for about £11, but I normally don't have money in my account when it's on sale, not to mention, I would rather a physical copy if I do play it. Thanks for the heads-up though. =)
If you don't want to be spoiled, stay off the internet. Enough with this "spoiler warning" crap.
Yes. Fantastic game. It’s so cheap now that it should be a easy choice for all switch owners.
Finally played the original earlier this year and it’s a fantastic game. Would love to see a sequel.
So far leaks have suggested we’re going to see a new Mario & Rabbids, a new Forza Horizon, and imminent release dates for Flight Sim Series X and Psychonauts 2. Even if nothing else gets shown that I like that would be a superb E3 for me personally.
@MS7000
Another recommendation here. I’d get a physical copy because I think it’s a bit of an acquired taste. It shouldn’t work at all yet it’s got that sprinkling of stardust that makes it ‘good different,’ almost like nothing you’ve ever played before.
Yes please. One of my favourite switch games along with the DLC. Spent about 70 hours unlocking everything. Great game
Loved the original but it got too tricky towards the end and I never finished it. Would definitely give a new one a go.
Cool name.
And I read the list and to be really honest, save a couple of familiar names, it read like just a bunch of random words to me. Some very interesting. But it'll still be a surprise to see what these names mean
I would rather see a Zelda + Rabbids what more more or new can you really do with a Mario + Rabbids sequel?
Loved Mario + rabbids, such a clever and tactical game wrapped in a fun package. Really hoping for a sequel. Maybe expand it and add some of their other IP's into the mix.
O God yes! 1st one was great! I loved it, kids too.
@roboshort I’d take a port/remaster of red steel 2
Bit disappointed it isn't a co op Rainbow or Splintercell offshoot to be fair. Mario Vs Rabbids was a solid, fun effort though. So will check the sequel out too.
I was hoping for Far Cry Puzzle Gem Drop 👍
(exclusive to Switch)
@roboshort I was thinking about that series. It is good to see that some remember it. The second one was fantastic.
This would be amazing!!!! I'm replaying the original at the moment so this would be great timing
The first game was alright for what it was, I'm honestly not sure if I would buy a sequel or not though. Having said that, for those that loved the first game, this is definitely good news for them.
Mario + Rabbids was OK. I think it benefitted enormously from launching early. I'm really not excited for a sequel, at all, but I enjoyed enough of the first game to give it a chance, so we will see how it looks.
Hell yes, day one buy for me. MRKB is one of the best exclusives on the Switch. I'd happily jump on that bandwagon again.
First outing was great, enjoyed it! Looking forward to another XCOM experience. There's not that much BWAAAAAHH in there, so it keeps a nice balance.
Gimme new Trials game too, Ubi. And, new Peggle on Switch, please - my nieces, brother, and I like that for multiplayer on xbox. There was a Peggle on the DS. How is Peggle not on the Switch!??
New Mario + Rabbids would be great!!! I'm not into turn based based games, but I loved Mario + Rabbids.<3
@Slowdive that list said DDLC plus do now my hype has burst through the roof!!!
Ugh, please no. I can already imagine this taking over time on Tuesday's Direct that could be used to showcase something that isn't Mario.
Not one to pay attention to supposed leakers, but this rumor just makes sense to me, considering the success of the original game. It's also one of my favorite Switch exclusives, so I'd be super excited if it turns out to be real.
With that said, that title sounds like something you'd find in a fake leak (I remember all the bogus "leaked" titles for the Switch FE game prior to it being fully revealed), so we'll see.
@WoomyNNYes Peggle would unironically be another very exciting game to see on the system. Peggle 3, ideally, but I'll take anything that's not the crappy mobile conversion at this point.
And the hype continue's
I'll pass. Didn't care for the first game.
But I'll be honest, the moment i read Ubisoft exclusive, i knew it had to be a sequel to Mario & Rabbids. First game sold quite well and is still considered one of the best 3rd party exclusive games available on the Switch (not that there are many anyway).
Mario check. DK check. Zelda, Starfox, Kirby, Pokemon all potential for sequels.
I am surprised they havent announced a Mario + Rabbids sequel at this point
Even if it is only a rumor, I think a Mario + Rabbids sequel is a certainty at this point. It really was a surprisingly great game, it sold well and was well received (after initial backlash to it's leak of course). I'd have to imagine at this point, that when it comes to a sequel, it's not a question of if, but rather, when.
@Ralizah
I agree about the name, but this person has a near flawless track record. They're the ones that told us all about MH Rise just before the direct. Said you could yank yourself in the air using these fairy bugs, and ride on dogs... it was all true.
So even though the name does sound off, I weigh that against their reliability and determine ya, it's probably true. Another industry analyst (Zhuge) also said it was spot on, down to the name and everything, so it does seem to be likely.
Ubisoft just can't seem to keep a lid on their Mario Rabbids announcements. 4 years ago we got similar leaks for the original.
The big take away from this leak is Slime Rancher 2.
If true then I can see Rayman being put in for SMASH, even though rumors of DOOM guy are spreading around.
I wish it was DK+Rabbids honestly.
Wasn't there is a Beyond Good and Evil game planned for the Switch a few years ago?
What about Steep ?
@JaxonH Yeah, given their track record, I'm choosing to be enthusiastic about the possibility of this being true.
I'm literally getting every sequel for the system I've been hoping for since 2017: new Monster Hunter, new SMT, new Mario + Rabbids, new Fire Emblem, new BotW-linked Zelda, (kinda) new Ace Attorney games... and it's looking highly possible like we might be getting a new Resident Evil game as well.
And if sales keep up, that level of support is likely to be even more robust on whatever the eventual successor console is.
While I'd rather they do something more original and innovative, I loved the first game and it's probably one of my fave Switch games, so this is great news.
@MS7000 Well, you sound the lite-version of myself before I bought it just because gold edition once was on a very good sale. I thought, from what I've seen from that game, what a mess and how could Nintendo ever do this to the Mario franchise. Yes, I was a hater. And I thought like you: Not my type of game.
Oh boy was I wrong... Actually it was the best game experience I had since I finally got my hands on StarCraft II back in 2010 (I was in love with StarCraft since 1999). To me Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is one of the best games the Nintendo Switch has to offer - even now. For me at least.
Screenshot this comment:
Zelda + Rabbids: Hyrule Battle will be announced for Nintendo Switch during the Ubisoft keynote at E3 2021 on June 12, 2021.
It will include new play mechanics different from Mario + Rabbids. The art style will easily fit by using the "toon" version of Link, Zelda and all characters.
A starfox game made by Ubisoft?
I prescribe several teaspoons of salt until proven otherwise
Oh hai Nintendo, nice of you to accidentally reveal the game is real https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/mario-plus-rabbids-sparks-of-hope-switch/
Had a feeling this was real! Now i suddenly wanna break out the first one again.
Those screen grabs look very high res...
This time I've learned to wait, because one day this game will be heavily discounted and with a complete edition like its predecessor. No rush.
I didn't play the original, but I heard it was awesome so pretty hype i guess
Fun game but a little bit too simplistic. Will likely wait for the usual Ubisoft deep sale on this.
Would love to see some the newer Assassin's Creed games come to switch, we may see Valhalla if the rumoured Pro is true.
Damn, 2022 feels like an eternity away
I've yet to get the first game (XCOM style is not a high priority among TRPGs for me), but I appreciate the series continuing. Quality stuff on all fronts.
Sucks that the game is launching 2022, but it should be well worth the wait.
From the screenshots, it seems like the most obvious change from the first game is that the overworld is fully 3D instead of isometric.
Knowing Ubisoft, it's probably going to be open-world as well.
Glad to see a sequel to the original Mario & Rabbids. Hopefully the scope will be a bit broader than last time, given the success of the first game. Seeing there are only nine playable characters (assuming these include Mario, Rabbid Mario, Peach, Rabbid Peach, Luigi, Rabbid Luigi) leaves me a bit disappointed as I was hoping the concept might be expanded to include other Nintendo IPs like Zelda, Metroid, etc., but as long as the gameplay remains fun and the quality equals that of the original, this one's definitely on my Wish List.
This is fantastic news!!! This is a day 1 purchase for me
Sweet loved the first one.
Rabid Rosalina?? So, this is Mario+Rabbids...Galaxy edition? Looking good so far! The first game was a high water mark on Switch early on...this hopefully will continue the series at that mark or higher!
2022. Switch Pro Enhanced game for sure!!!
My heart is so full!!
....don't tell me they completely cut Yoshi from this. If so I don't know if I even want it anymore. He was already super late in the first game and isn't even there anymore now at all??
I'll probably still get it, but instead of buying it day 1 I will instead wait for a big sale this time. Absolutely disappointing to me.
2022 is getting stacked
@MS7000 I also despise rabbids but this is one of the best games I’ve played on switch.
Is brilliant you should give it a go seeing as you can get it so cheap. You might be surprised and the rabbids themselves aren’t as annoying as they had been in the past.
Also so happy there’s gonna be a sequel!
Looks interesting. What stands out to me is the 'galactic journey' part of the description, Rabbid Rosalina and what I think are Rabbid Luma's. It's very clearly taking inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy and I'm not complaining!
Also, and this is very much a me problem, I'm torn if I want a physical or digital version of this game. I generally prefer physical media but I got the first one digitally and my autistic brain has trouble handling the inconsistency of having 2 games of the same series in a different format.
This sounds good. It looks like rosalina and bowser may be joining this one from the cover.
@TYRANACLES
The description says that there are nine playable characters.
Mario, Rabbid Peach and Mario Luigi are shown in the stills. That's the first three confirmed.
Judging from the boxart, I think it's safe to assume that Luigi, Peach and Rabbid Rosalina are playable as well plus that unique looking Rabbid. That makes 7 out of 9.
If this game follows the same trend as the first, then Rabbid Mario and Rosalina would round out the roster. This isn't garantueed to be the roster, but the one that I feel is the most likely one based on what we currently now.
Will the collector's edition have Rabbid Luigi or Rabbid Peach?
Hoping Wario and Waluigi will be playable alongside Rosalina. DK as well. How about Rabbid Dr Mario?
Just never cared about the Rabbids on Wii, never going to start now tbh. I can't believe they're still wheeling them out actually
Rabbids luma
Rabbids luma
There is absolutely nothing obtuse about the headline. It says everything there is to know.
Gave up on the last one due to its difficulty, hopefully this one will be more forgiving
Rabbid Luma disgusts me
Thoroughly enjoyed the first! Still yet to play the DLC
Thank you Nintendo for the spoiler.
(anyway, it looks AMAZING)
@PikaPhantom All the Rabbid Mario characters look disgusting. ☹️ It's funny Nintendo's so precious about character designs going off brand in the Paper Mario games but they allow these monstrosities, lol... I'm happy for fans of this series though.
Why do that?I don't like ubisoft so I don't care,but is this not ruining their announcement...
Looks good. BTW I only got here after Nintendo's website leaked the news, not commenting on the rumor or the leaker.
Sequel makes sense, and it's been long enough. I never finished the first game b/c in 1 level a surprise gust of wind blew my entire team off of a cliff and that was that, but sure, I'll play the sequel in 2023 when it goes on sale for $20.
Also, Nintendo posting all of that on their own website before the game is even officially announced makes me think we will see New Switch Pro on store shelves before they announce it. Why announce what you can just sell?
Im now convinced 2021 is going to be another 2018 and 2020 where the line-up for Switch is very weak
@Clyde_Radcliffe
Actually, Rabbids in Mushroom Kingdom outfits looks much better than Rabbids from original Rabbids games.
I'm not gonna buy this,but it is nice for the mario + rabbids fans.
Can we please get more Zelda and less Mario? People would like to play WW, Twighlight, OoT & MM on their Switch
Naa, the first one was a failure for me, not my Taste, didn't see real tactic in the Gameplay.
I Love the first game!! Yikes!
Oh wow I bought my Switch for the first game!Absolutely hyped for this!
@westman98
‘Yesterday, 11:26am
Those of you who like Super Mario Galaxy may enjoy this game.’ Well done! How did you know?
this franchise still feels so surreal, even now that luma rabbid hybrid looks so fake lol
I'm loving the Rabbid Luma.
@AmplifyMJ
Ubisoft is a very leaky faucet.
Mario + Rabbids 2 in space has been somewhat of an open secret for some time.
This is great news! Anyone who has played the original knows it’s great, need to finish it
@B4L0R_CLUB @MarioBrickLayer @electrolite77 @datamonkey @AchievingGamer @Uwii Alright, I'll bite. Just ordered a copy. Might put something in the forums later about how I am getting on once it arrives and I've played a bit.
I really want to like these games but I hate the damn rabbits
Best news so far. Even botw2 won't trump this.
Waaaaaahooooooo
Mario+Rabbids holds the special place in my Switch catalog as one of only two games I’ve sold to buy something else. Pokken Tournament and Mario+Rabbids.
Glad for people that enjoyed the first one though. I understand the appeal, but it’s just not my taste.
The graphics looks good but I am not interested. Just could not get into the first game - seemed so weirdly "plain" and the gameplay seemed so, so flat.
@somnambulance I am in the same boat - I have sold off 3 games, with Mario+Rabbids being one.
@Personausermike
I have no interest with Zelda games at all.
I will choose this Mario + Rabbids game over than Zelda games.
Huh I guess they revealed it since it was already leaked.
Huh, someone applied for the license before making a game based on Nintendo's IP instead of freeloading and using it without permission?
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Bagels
I got this for my sons birthday a few years ago. For a long time it was by far his most played game, he absolutely loved it.
@MS7000 I know you’ve already ordered it so there’s no real need for this comment but thought I’d chip in and say I was much in the same boat. I’ve never been a fan of SRPGs or the Rabbids so I held off on the first for ages despite buying most Mario games day one.
Turned out to be my third favourite Switch game (and still is to this day). Everything from the battles to the puzzle solving overworld captured me utterly.
Maybe it’s because of the stellar music being done by Grant Kirkhope but I’ve always said this game feels as close to a modern Rare game I’ve played. It’s just that high quality of a third party title. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Also, I am so beyond pumped for this!
Hey, Rabbid Luigi has overalls this time
Oooops Nintendo!
Of course these are promotional images and they always look good, but I can't shake the feeling the graphics in these images are a bit too detailed to run on the current Switch. Switch Pro screens maybe?
Why didn't they save it til the actual presentation?
It would've been a much nicer surprise without leaks...
i hope itll be better than the first game
@zool lol that's a funny joke
@iLikeUrAttitude
Maybe they didn't 5o it on purpose ? When I click on the link there is only a "woods - something went wrong" page
It's gone now, I guess whoever ran Nintendo's website went "Whoops!" and hid it immediately.
Also, oh hey, Rabbid Rosalina.
I have to say, graphically the game looks gorgeous! I quite liked the original M+R, so revisiting the concept with a graphical update (and presumably refined gameplay) sounds great!
Love the first game and dlc so I will totally be getting this. E3 is already looking good! Weapons are looking more varied.
1st iteration is still one of the best games on Switch. Day 1 including season pass whatsoever. (quite competent couch-coop btw) Absolutely a no-brainer.
The first one was great and I think the sequel will live up to the first. I’m excited for rabbid Rosalina. Hopefully there will be a Daisy to.
It's rare I get games on launch anymore, but this is a day 1 buy for me.
Oh yeah.What a great news.I loved the first one.
I played through the first chapter of the first game and I liked it but it wasn’t for me. I’m glad fans of it are getting a sequel, but what I’m more interested in is Nintendo’s schedule for next year. This, Splatoon 3, and possibly BOTW2 already makes 2022 look like the next 2017, though I hope they have all new games and not just sequels to franchises that are already on Switch!
Absolutely can’t wait. Part 1 was my 2nd favourite Switch game.
@Slowdive So is Rayman going to appear as a playable character or is he going to be shafted again in favor of more generic Ubisoft Minions?
(sigh) The one time a platformer icon has had a chance to have a crossover with Mario, and they decided not to do it. Does Ubisoft not know or not care, I'm genuinely curious because nobody else seemed to ask them this question.
This one’s finally been confirmed. The leak came out a few days ago.
Looks pretty sweet, a bit more open too (though that may be a trick on the eyes). This will be bought by me in the future of course, but I still have to finish the first game (I think I haven't even finished the first world. Good stuff, but also pretty hard).
We have our first good Switch E3-game this year. Not a bad start!
Would be funny if when Ubisoft updates their site it says that the game is coming to the Switch and Switch Pro
@MS7000 great choice! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. As you progress it gets better imo as the battles become a bit more complex. Is always fun though.
This out-did Xcom at its own game for me!
Edit: also if you like the game as much as I did I’d recommend the Donkey Kong SP DLC too. I don’t usually bother with dlc but for this I did and it lived up to the main game…
IM SO FRIGGIN EXCITED.
@Vriess This looks like it can run on the normal Switch.
Switch pro confirmed
Nice, I bet people will enjoy it!
@PirateJake195 looks a bit switch pro-ish doesn't it?
Get.
In.
There.
You.
Beauty.
@Vriess I think so too. The graphics look a bit switch pro-ish
What a nice surprise! The original came out of nowhere and ended up being a great time, even if the Rabbids themselves still bug me...
I’m waiting for Rabbid Geno, personally.
Very pleased with this. Kingdom Battle was great.
Well, there you go!
Wish it was 2021, but really just glad it exists at all. I can't wait to see more!
I enjoyed the first game but I hated the rabbids. The game would be so much better without them, but i guess they were always going to be in the sequel.
A pity that the trailer didn't leak out. The rest of the Ubisoft show will either be rubbish and/or not coming to Switch. Beyond good and evil 2 missing in action (and not coming to Switch). Only if they show Immortals 2, that might be coming to Switch.
Of course if there's a Switch 2, they might show games for that. Heck, Mario and Rabbids 2 might be a Switch 2 game. Maybe Beyond good and evil 2 too! And Immortals 2 if that exists.
Fantastic news. 2022 is already shaping up to be a great year.
@roboshort Red Steel 3! That would be great!
Well, since the rumour is now essentially confirmed...
I would be interested in a fulsome release of a Donkey Kong game of this type, even if I must tolerate the Rabbids yet again.
The Kremlings need not be the default enemy, but I would be interested in some development of those characters as well. The islands from Tropical Freeze would make excellent settings, and the concept could be stretched from its Mario+Rabbids origins in interesting ways, I think.
Someday botw2 will reveal on that page, someday …
Huh, someone applied for the license before making a game based on Nintendo's IP instead of freeloading and using it without permission?
@Trikeboy Are you familiar, by chance, with a game called Axiom Verge? You might be surprised to know what its creator did in his youth.
Nice! I LOVED Mario + Rabbids. I'll just wait 6 months after its release for a 75% off sale.
@WoomyNNYes How did you feel about Rising? I've read that it is an inferior Trials game, but I've been enjoying it so far.
I'll keep an eye on it, I liked the first game, but holy crap did it have so many glitches, some of them I don't even know how they got through testing and stuff. lol
The DLC, eh, I played through some of it and lost interest at that point. >.<
@MS7000 - I recommend giving it a chance; it's one of my all time favorite Switch games. And, for what it's worth, I also (passionately) despise Rabbids.
Switch pro hardware?
@F_T_Wolf surely if you’re autistic then your brain wouldn’t allow you make a choice, your decision would already be preempted if you own the first on digital
@MajorasLapdog The phenomenal music by Grant Kirkhope sure is a big deal that impacts gameplay experience overall. As a collector of more than 1000 movie (and some game) soundtracks (yep, the orchestrated ones) over the last 2 decades this album is in my top 25. The music really motivated me additionally while exploring this game.
Well, in conclusion I went from hater to fanboy as I now realize. ^^
I guess Rabbid Mario and Rosalina will be also playable.
@COVIDberry And instead of focusing on fan games with stolen IPs, they made their own product and as a result were able to sell their product.
WHY? I thought this game was stupid, but this is a stupid world we live in.
@Trikeboy I am simply trying to make this point: creative people have to start somewhere. Often, that starting point is the material they are most familiar with. Its a human tendency that people seem to be naïve about. It doesn't have to be interpreted as malicious, you know...
Why do stuff like this keep happening "by accident"
When nintendo accidently "leaks" something, nothing happends.
But when Netflix leaked that they where working on zelda anime. Nintendo shuts the project.
I've learned a LOT from marketing tactics from my father and people who used to work at game companies. "Accidentally leaking" games are done a lot, it gets more attention than just revealing it straight up. Acting like it wasn't intentional is the perfect strategy
I guess the Mario + Rabbids franchise is cursed to always have their games leaked before the official announcement 😂
In all seriousness, very excited for this. Now I have a reason to play the first game, which is currently in my backlog.
@COVIDberry Note: there is a demo!(recommended)
Trials Rising(Switch) is inferior to what, it's predecesor(Trials Fusion), other consoles? I've played Trials on my brother's xbox one, but I'm still very happy with the switch version. As far as how I feel about it, it's great, I'd give it a 9/10- 10/10. I put over 120 hours into it. Granted, 20+ hours were online. Online racing was active for the first two years, but now it's tough to get online races. Anyway, I got the game for the single player - that's the meat of the game.
It's graphics are decent. Only one stage, the second stage?, is a desert stage & used a lot of fog,(created background dust storm), but it doesn't hurt the gameplay in the slightest. The rest of the game looks good. 100+ tracks.
On rare occasion, there can be a frame rate drop, at the start of a track, but I think I only see it on a few really busy stages if I restart the stage a lot. The game usually stabilizes the frame rate if you just hit restart, and wait a few seconds.
Regarding lack of analog trigger: Set gas to the analog stick. Push right for gas, left for brakes. It's a surprisingly comfortable control scheme. Others here have agreed, it's basically a non-issue. For the record, I don't like analog stick throttle for car racing games, but for trials, pushing the stick ight/left works great. I've gotten to the extreme levels, and the analog stick throttle isn't what makes me fail to complete the track in time, it's my own skill. My success rate is the same on xbox one(I've played 40 hours at my brothers).
Anyway, sale prices are a steal. Gold edition is $8.99, which adds like 50 tracks on top of the 80-100.
That Rabbid Luma kind of reminds me of those Quiznos Sponge Monkeys.
ROFL...the Ubisoft pre-show actually just aske GAMERS...if we know what "going gold" means in gaming. And then proceeded to explain it to us as if we had NO idea. In between...walking simulators. I think Ubisoft is trying to put us all to sleep with this preshow before their real thing. ROFL
Brushie must have some strong connections, or perhaps inside knowledge from pre-release trailers and marketing. A lot of the leaks seem to be from places like IGN. I assume IGN has stuff lined up and ready to go.
Regardless of where the leaks are directly coming from, Brushie better learn how to morph into other people so Nintendo can't get that sniper shot lined up lol.
@PBandSmelly yeah. People are watching the conference waiting for the Nintendo game to be shown. It's already in their heads and while they might be really wanting like Assassin's Creed or something, the little Rabbids game is just sitting there waiting for its reveal
@MS7000 You can't go wrong, especially at the current retail price. Enjoy!
@HamatoYoshi
It's propably going to be digital yeah. Doesn't chance the fact 'or perhaps I could get it physical?' will keep echoing in my brain untill release. I know how it works by now.
@Slowdive I doubt he will make an appearance. Ubisoft seems to be completely ignoring him in favor of their Minions which are more lucratively successful. I'm just shocked that Rayman has never appeared alongside Mario in a crossover game since he's also a platformer mascot and appeared way before the rabbids overshadowed him.
@COVIDberry I agree, but why steal to learn? Would you walk into a book shop, pick up a educational book and walk out of the store without paying? Even if you are making a spiritual successor, no need to use graphics someone else owns. Geometric shapes work just as well as stolen graphics. The first game I designed was a Donkey Kong style game, but I didn't take any of Nintendo's graphics while working on the early builds to get the game working.
Trials Rising(Switch) is inferior to what, it's predecesor(Trials Fusion), other consoles?
@WoomyNNYes I very much appreciate the detailed reply; I should have made it clearer that I already own the game on Switch and have played a few tracks (with my vintage GameCube controller, which feels quite natural for this game!). I agree with everything you've mentioned about the quality of the game (so far), and I don't recall any serious frame drops.
In other online communities, I saw many complaints about Trials Rising on all its platforms. I understand that it was rocky at launch and that the reception has improved, however. And yes, Fusion has been brought up often as the superior product.
I bow to your motoring skills 😌

@Trikeboy Your points here are fair. Yes, it would be better to skip the "slavish imitation" or "borrowing" stage directly. For me, this issue is a little more nuanced, though.
If you are making a game and plan to release it to the public, the material should be original. Obviously, some people are simply trying to cash in on the popularity of existing games, and that is disreputable. Nintendo can and will crush such rip-offs legally.
And yet, when I think of a game like AM2R, I have mixed feelings. To my knowledge, no one attempted to cash in on that product. I have not played it, but I have watched a fair bit of a playthrough, and it seems to have been created by people who have deep respect for the Metroid franchise (both lore and gameplay), and Metroid II particularly. All of that unpaid labour - like yours - means something. Legally, we talk of IP and franchises, but to me, culture belongs as much to the fans as to the creators. In the long run, the companies are only a means to an end...
@COVIDberry The issue is controlling your own IP and what it represents. Metroid isn’t just a game, it’s a brand. Nintendo carefully decide what goes into it and what it does. They obsess on how Mario’s hat looks in LEGO form. They’re required to approve everything.
It’s because they’re a brand business. Movies, theme parks, plushies are all part of that. Nintendo sees itself as the creators of digital toys. And you wouldn’t expect Mattel to be ok with people giving away fake Barbies
I hated the Mario characters in this can't they just like keep it the rabbids and you be soft
I wonder if they are hinting at something even bigger for Tuesday, dare i predict Mario Galaxy 3 for Tuesday yes i do.
Glad this game's changing a few people's mind about turn-based strategy games.
Can't wait for XCOM 3 and of course, this as well!
Mario is officially Star-Lord from the Guardians of the Galaxy.
