Then make those specifics Nintendo, Gamecube was a wonder that made you the legend you are today. Make those specifics.

I am happy with HD remasters / remakes. There are some gems to be had from the ol' cube.

That said, SEGA did drop the ball (pardon the pun) with Super Monkey Ball, so it's kinda like another chance to see the games how they should be come back.

That's fine, I've got my GameCube collection, Swiss, SD2SP2 and HD converter to cover all that. Nothing beats the native experience.

@GrailUK Man Sega did! I loved Monkey Ball 1&2 on GC, but sweet Christmas I loathed the Wii launch one. That was enough for me to avoid the series for awhile. Haven’t tried any since.

Nintendo has historically kept future plans close to their chest, more so than most current gaming companies. So it doesn’t surprise me they don’t have anything to announce. There are a few that truly deserve HD remasters or even remakes, like Eternal Darkness. One way or another I hope they get brought forward either through NSO emu or remaster/remake.

Speaking of legacy….. I really truly hope Nintendo announces plans to make the switch successor BC with Switch, digital and physical. Another historically speaking, at least for handhelds, they’ve always made the successor able to play the previous gens carts - GB to GBA, GBA to DS, DS to 3DS. So I don’t assume that’ll be different here. They should be able to see an overview of all switch accounts and their digital/physical attach rates. There’s gotta be a large portion of us with digital libraries needing to go forward.

I hope if they ever rerelease TWW and TP it's the Wii U versions and not just upscaled GameCube versions

GameCube games take a lot more space than even N64 games, so they would need to figure out a completely different system for downloading those games. Either through eShop or some sort of download feature in-app. It wouldn't make any sense to make everyone download dozens of gigabytes of data, since not everyone is interested in more than one or two GC game.

That said, I think GC games are a bit too valuable for Nintendo to include them in their subscription service. I don't mind HD remasters or HD ports as long as they're done well.

I just can't see Gamecube being added to NSO, there are too many games that could be remastered. The DS is more likely.

Most great Gamecube games deserve a remaster or remake rather than being put in a netflix-style service. A lot of games are so original, wacky and fun. Take mario kart double dash for instance. Nintendo was really creative during the gamecube era. Sadly, the games never really had the time to shine as much as they deserved to because of the install base of the gamecube.

I hope a new audience gets to experience the gems of that era and i think that audience is more willing if the games are remastered a bit to current standards. (HD, modern controls, other quality of life changes, etc.)

Master System, Game Gear or Turbografx-16 seems most likely if there's another NSO platform added.

I think more remastered/up rezzed GameCube games will come out. Nintendo has already done so on two occassions, no reason to think that will change (or is even a problem). It's a no-brainer, this point.

Makes sense and to be honest I never expected this to happen in this gen, especially as GC and Wii games seem to be easy titles to port/remaster. I just wish they'd made GC controllers more readily available and include that as an option on the likes of Pikmin and Metroid.

they are getting through a decent amount of GC games at a steady rate and a lot of the fan favs are being upscaled, remastered or even remade.

So far we've got Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime & Pikmin 1+2
the only ones you see often that people really want, WW, TP Prime 2 Echoes & PM TTYD

I think its very likely that we get the WiiU Zelda ports next year, Prime 2 remake between now and Prime 4 would make total sense

and then sorry PM fans, i think nintendo hates the first two games and the people that enjoy them for some unknown reason

so I don't really think GC on NSO is all that necessary imho. DS and 3DS however... me want.

Gamecube games approach over 1GB each, it would be unsurprisingly impossible to offer them for switch online. On top of that, many games required analogue triggers and couldn't be controlled if brought over in the raw. The most we could reasonably hope for is enhanced ports like Pikmin 1+2. Other than that, there are no other platforms that would run on switch, since DS games would not control well in docked mode.

Course they won't, they know they can sell you these games again for £25-40 and you'll buy them. See Prime 1, Pikmin 1+2.

Besides, a Gamecube/Wii app would be too big for Switch. Maybe Switch 2, but I think they'll stick to selling them.

Makes sense. The GC/Wii are a massive step up in file size per game. Nintendo will have to find a way to deal with that before adding them to NSO. Obviously greed plays a part as well (easier to re-release GC/Wii at full price), but it's also a technical problem. They'd probably have to offer individual game downloads for GC/Wii to avoid eating up everyone's precious storage space.

I'd expect DS to be added next if we get another new platform before Switch 2 launches.

There's a chance they may include it as Switch Online with Switch 2. I think the price, unfournately, will increase, for it, if they do.

I'm confident they will keep remastering and releasing GameCube titles now.

I don't expect to see Gamecube, Wii, DS or 3DS games added to NSO on Switch, but I do hope we will see them on the successor to the Switch. Remasters are cool and all but theres no way we're going get every game we want remastered.

1. We never got GC VC Games.

2. Many of the controls would need to be reworked (like they did for Mario Sunshine) or you would need to buy GC controller.

While I'd love to see the Gamecube on the system the people I see complaining about it the most are the people complaining about the service in general. "They won't get ANYTHING until I get gamecube games - until then I will steal games until they make it right the *****!!!" If they released the entire gamecube catalog today under the expansion they find another excuse to steal the games.

next gen I expect to see them. In the meantime I have about 6000 hours of gameplay to catch up with on the current services.

As long as there’s entry-level Switches that ship with 25GB(formatted out of 32GB), there will not be GC games on NSO.

Alright, what if… they release DS and 3DS games. Top screen is your TV, bottom screen is a Switch Lite. I would 1000% buy a Switch Lite for that.

Does anyone have any idea at all when we will be getting the Zelda oracle games on NSO? I want them before anything else, and although confirmed I cannot find any hint of when they will drop.

If GameCube is in the works, I would be shocked if it weren't held back and used to tempt people to purchase the next-gen console.

I've often dreamed of GC and 3DS on NSO, but Nintendo can clearly make a lot more money releasing them separately. Several have noted the recent GC re-releases, but Nintendo also announced Luigi's Mansion 2 is being re-released next year. So that's clearly the direction they're going.

They should do a GC mini.

With stuff like MP1R and the Pikmin ports, I think it's clear Nintendo has little interest in supporting an NSO line of emulated Gamecube games.

I hope they do GameCube eventually. I've been holding off on most of their catalogue because I wanted to wait and get it a new console via Virtual Console. But if they don't, I'll probably just settle on getting the originals to play on the Wii.

There's also Super Mario Sunshine from the Mario 3D All Stars, Star Wars Jedi Knight 2, Tales of Symphonia and Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 if you want more, "Games originally released on Gamecube but now on Switch".

I think it might have a chance on the next console, I imagine they could let you test all the games cloud versions and if you like it you can download it to save on space

@ComfyAko As great as the GameCube was, it was also the platform that almost bankrupt Nintendo. Luckily the GBC and GBA help carried them through the early 2000s.

theyve already shown theyre willing to re-release gamecube games as remasters or bundles for $60. pretty sure nso isnt getting anything past the n64 anymore. possibly virtual boy if theyre daring enough?

Well, no big. If I want my portable GameCube fix I can always play the games I ripped from my discs on my Steam Deck.

I don't get what is so difficult with putting Gamecube games up for switch online. Still i'd much prefer an actual purchase option to this glorified rental service. Some people like to actually own the games and have unlimited access to them. is that so hard to understand?

We've only been saying it for a couple years, but with these recent GC remasters, it's becoming more obvious... Can we please get WW and TP HD remasters already? Preferably on one cart, like Pikmin 1+2?

@PoeTheLizard Sure, and I'm not saying they did not, but the most beloved games of most of the nintendo players came out on GC, I think. I know mine did. To me, it was the golden age of Nintendo, of gaming in general, and of human civilization as a whole.

@Serpenterror yeah, but I was never the one to think in lowly matters like financial statements. I know they are kinda important to companies (duh) but to me, there's so much more to evaluate and appreciate in gaming. People just like mediocre games and GC was well above the average

There are so many DS gems that didn't sell before and wouldn't sell again, like Hotel Dusk Room 215 or MP Hunters but would probably be appreciated quite a bit if on a subscription model. Others might sell on their own like Picross 3D and Mario & DK but wouldn't be worth native ports. A subscription service is good for those with smartphones serving as the touch screen in docked mode via Bluetooth. I suppose missing stylus functionality could still be an issue though.

Oh, don't worry about it. GameCube was not a great console. Xbox and especially PS2 was much better. And I like Dreamcast even more.

Id rather own GameCube remasters individually than be tethered to the online subscription so this news is fine by me.

I feel like GameCube games are really where the library exists for Nintendo to milk with remasters. We've already seen them start to do this - Metroid, Mario, now Pikmin. Arguably I think remakes of certain n64 games would do well if completely overwhelmed and actually remade rather than remastered, but I don't see that happening.
We're sooner going to get full releases of a number of Wii/GameCube games. We already have quite a few.

IF Nintendo don't make us start again on the next system, then I think I'm ok with this. I'd rather pay for some touched up classics than pay a massive amount for another subscription (let's be honest -if they did a subscription it would be another tier).

Also it would be a bit of a pain pointless for many of they keep remastering gc games and then just put a while bunch of them on there switch online collection.

I'm OK with that if they keep adding to the platforms we have, I've not really missed many GameCube specific games... though I would like Twlight Princess and (of course) Factor 5's Star Wars games, remastered versions would be preferable. Chibi-Robo would also be welcome.

Nso has to be one of the worse things to happen to a Nintendo platform.

GCN games aren't going to NSO when Nintendo is selling their HD ports or remasters on Switch.

Gamecube games still hold up pretty well when remastered so it's understandable that they wouldn't want to offer them via emulation.

Honestly, GCN games for the NSO feels like the servers will be overloaded as those games were around 1 GB of memory, and I feel the best way is ports/remasters for the Switch eShop

I’d love to see more Sega platforms other than Genesis/MD. TGS16/PCE would be cool too.

I'd want them to flesh out a more consistent launch of their legacy content before adding GCN to the mix.

I wouldn't hold your breath for GameCube. Its too recent and easily Remastered for the big N. Possibly, we could see more Sega stuff. Which would make my day Saturn or Dreamcast all day!

I don't think we will get GC. We may get hd remakes of some nintendo games like what they have done with Pikmin at best. Maybe. I still hope we get the WiiU version of Windwaker remade for the Switch

@Picola-Wicola Nope, no release schedule has been given.

We just got Blaster Master and Kirby Tilt in June (both GBC). In March we got two GB titles added. None were added in April or May (for GB/GBC).

This averages out to one GB or GBC added each month. If they keep this pace, we should get more titles in July or August.

I probably wouldn't have bought a Switch if not for the NES & SNES games on the NSO. Adding the N64 was even more delight for old gamers like me.

I think adding GameCube would be a huge draw for people a generation younger than me that GameCube was their childhood console. So it makes sense to delay it for the "Switch 2" and its "NS2O". Then later add DS, then 3DS, then Wii to complete it, as far as Nintendo consoles are concerned.

Other than Nintendo, the only big ones that could be added are TurboGrafx-16, Saturn and Dreamcast. Put that together with the Nintendo consoles, and you've got a hell of a lot of a draw for the new NS2O.

I think pretty much everyone had given up hope of Gamecube coming to NSO by now. This reissue thing is a farce though. Super Mario Sunshine, a couple Pikmin, one Metroid Prime out of a trilogy.. That's nothing. Gamecube had a library of over 600 games. That's not to say that the current NSO offerings aren't lacking either, but they're at least a lot more substantial than that.

Just keep it for a switch 2.
And make all WiiU games available on the Eshop as well.

If Nintendo could do GC for online, they can do Wii (since it has a very similar architecture). I'd also imagine DS would be possible on Switch but would take some adjustments (like the screen might need to shift to vertical?). But it's very unlikely we'll see anything beyond that. GC, Wii, and DS also could come at an even higher premium tier

GameCube had analog.
GameCube games won't work on Switch without reworking the controls.

I wouldn't expect anything like GameCube games to appear any sooner than the next Nintendo console, or even further after that. Judging by Nintendo's past, they like to give us things way after we've asked for them. So I'm not holding out any expectations for a game library of that caliber. Honestly I'm satisfied of what we gotten so far, but the only inevitable step is to move towards the other consoles that haven't had much of their game catalogs released on an emulation service.
