Service For Dragon Quest X Online On Wii U And 3DS Will End Next Year

Online gaming isn't for me, even with something I love as much as Dragon Quest. However, I'm glad they've made an offline version and I have high hopes for a Western release.

As a big fan of MMORPGs I have always wanted to play this and it’s a shame it never made it Westward.

Alas, we will likely never get to experience it now.

It's always a sad thing when a service comes to an end, there are always people who still play the game. It's been some time, but I still can't get over the end of the Princess Connect Eng Server by Crunchyroll. I lost so much progress, I switched to Jap version but it's just not the same when you're trying to get back up.

I'll also never forget Revived Witch and its stellar soundtrack, and a cast of great characters, too. When they dropped the last amount of currency, I got the character I always wanted, but our time together was short.

With that, Space Leaper and Mitrasphere, my phone's memory slowly starts looking like a graveyard.

I wanted this game so bad when it came out. I probably would've chosen to play the 3DS version, but it's a shame this never came out in the West. I'm not holding my breath for the Offline version to come out, but hopefully it does.

Would loved it back in the wii era, when it was feeling like the old RPG drought N64 days. Nowadays, eh.

I gave up hope years ago that the MMO version would officially release outside of Japan. However, my fingers are crossed that the offline version migrates eventually.

...That, or I'd better take a crash course in reading Japanese at some point.

@Spider-Kev Perhaps you might be thinking of the 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI? That version was unique and had the adventure in a top down perspective like the earlier DW entries. I still wish this had come West, but SE did add this mode to the S version. A decent enough apology, I'd say.

Offline versions for this and FFXI please!

That's why I prefer Offline. When the servers are dead and gone I can still play. Just hope they put out all of the expansions.

If you make a Japan account on the switch you can play quite a bit of the game before the paywall kicks in. I used google translate on my phone for translation as there is not a English option yet. After a while you know where to go in the menus etc. The game is fun and the community is still there.

Western fans were truly shafted. I picked up DQX Offline on the Switch while I was in Akihabara back in April, but I really hanker for the convenience of a localization so that I can just get stuck into it without fear of things getting 'lost in translation.'

It's ironic too, what made me get serious about learning Japanese in the first place was the fact that DQX and DQXI both seemed like they'd never get English localizations... While Squenix somehow listened to the fans with XI, having X remain 'confined' to Japan is a lingering bummer.
