damn, i thought i was gonna kill this thread with that Zapp, but than @thefox had to go and post eric b and rakim, coolie o AND mudhoney. how can i top that?
God bless old hip-hop. At least re-imagining of old songs (Fantastic Voyage re-imagining by Coolio) were inspired back then...the beats made use of instruments and actual tones, and it just kinda makes you bob your head/smile.
Who's up for bringing the flat top back?
EDIT: One of the best non-pystrance-tempo songs from Converting Vegetarians. Gotta love It.
than write this {youtube:wBIslWWt9js} (but you gotta use [ ] these, i just substituted { } to see an example of what you put in the brackets with out posting it)
so when you write {youtube:wBIslWWt9js} with [ ] instead of {} you get:
ty phatskillz--the forum entry that spoke of correct tagging had spaces in the bracketed text...I formatted it the same and it wasn't too pleased. Still unsure as to why you can't just use the standard youtube embed tags, but I'm html/internet-programmingly challenged.

@DJphattymode - not so much...hardcore tends to obfuscate the things I like about electronic and dumb it down into a drum and bassy competition for who can throw the most notes at a track. Not to say there isn't good hardcore, but my main electronic genres are Psytrance and psychedelic downtempo/eletro-reggae/ambient; huge Shpongle fan and Infected Mushroom's my favorite musical group (yes even w/ the new direction)...although I like Argaman, Bluetech, and that speed too. I'm also a sucker for well-mixed house--always got my love for John Digweed and Lars Behrenroth.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
@swerd_murd thats all good homie, i don't really like trance that much (im super down for the old school stuff though). the funny thing is i think trance complicates things and takes away a lot of the things i like about electronic music lol; basiclly the reason i like hardcore is why you don't. im really into speedcore and stuff you would probably hate like this
Yeah - my biggest issue with that type of electronic is it's just too easy....the pallette opens up so much when you move away from 4/4 and that sampleset...I recommend checking out Shpongle, as it isn't even remotely trance and it's sonically magical. Really, really interesting stuff. Also keep in mind: Trance and Psytrance are VERY, very different beasts: I'm not a huge modern-day trance fan either (and to be honest Psy is stagnating some too, but I love the darkness), just like the fact that you're into speedcore doesn't mean you're into frenchcore or UK Gabber crap I'd give some electronic music a shot: ALSO
One of the greatest links ever: http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/music.swf - Digitally Imported Radio (I think) made this fantastic flash application that is one of the more comprehensive sets of electronic genres, complete with examples. This is the closest thing to an encylopedia of electronic styles that I've found.

i love frenchcore and uk gabber crap, dude. lol i dj it! and i know what shpongle is (and the difference between psy/goa and trance). i mostly a huge breakcore head so i pretty much can find anything in any rave sytle. i hate alot of house (except acid house, i love acid house) and mainroom cheesy plur trance.
i got my music myspace's in the signature, peep em if your interested (its mostly just stupid breakcore and Kord DS-10 beats) but i think you will see where im coming from.
@magi lol dude my video production teacher in high school directed that marcy playground video. he was such a hollywood chump it was ridiculous. his name is jamie caliri i think. his dad was the keyboard player for the band ventura and his brother was the drummer in that one band with bob dylans son, the wallflowers i think is what they were called...
a few more. I just couldn't resist: No vid, just close your eyes and enjoy. [youtube:Bj6_b9sY6yA] One of my more recent faves since we ALL need a little fur in our caps: [youtube:lww9Wqq_Cao] And lest we forget: (or maybe we all wanted to) [youtube:rog8ou-ZepE]
@TurboPhattyMcGee - funny you mentioned DS-10--I too own it. Here's the second track I made with it...haven't really touched it much since (got Reaper and haven't used anything else post-discovery)
