Slap City (Switch eShop)
EarthboundBenjy submitted a shoutout for Slap City:
A SSB Melee-style multiplayer brawler made by the same team who did Nicktoons All-Stars.
Extremely silly characters, fast-paced Melee-inspired game mechanics (it has wave dashing), and also includes a fun "adventure mode" style campaign, which is a series of platforming challenges with some very silly over-the-top dialogue scenes. Has online crossplay with Steam version, too.
KUUKIYOMI: Consider It! (Switch eShop)
edhe wants you to consider KUUKIYOMI: Consider It!:
It's similar to WarioWare, in that you play a (fixed) series of microgames, but they're focused on Japanese social etiquette. You take control of a person or, sometimes, inanimate object in a specific situation, and are tasked with manipulating them to create an outcome that is either considerate, or inconsiderate.
Some of the minigames rely on knowledge of Japanese etiquette (something that isn't neccesarily universal), and after completing all 100 minigames, you are ranked on how considerate you are.
There are two other games in the series, offering more games, and I think it's a good budget alternative to WarioWare.
Wildfrost (Switch eShop)
Aaron is taken with Chucklefish's Wildfrost:
Wildfrost is a fantastic roguelite deck-building card game with a more general appeal than Slay the Spire. The artwork, music, and tone has an inviting cozy look that hide a mischievous depth. Steam reviews suggest it attracted a much wider audience that hasn’t come to grips with a game like this, where those experienced with the genre rate it highly and appreciate the difficulty and depth under the surface. My family can’t get enough.
Arietta of Spirits (Switch)
KoiTenchi is also a fan of Arietta of Spirits:
Arietta of Spirits plays very similarly to a 2D Zelda but has a very different style. It features a much more modern-day story with Arietta on vacation with her parents. The whole game is over before you know it with it lasting only about 4 hours but it can be a very nice change of pace between other long games. The timed shielding mechanic changes the feel of the combat considerably from Zelda.
If you’re a fan of 2D Zelda but have already played them all and find yourself wanting more, this is certainly worth a look.
Donut Dodo (Switch eShop)
mattesdude says that Donut Dodo is a very fun time:
For any fan of arcades of the ‘80s, this is an excellent title. It’s simple, addictive, and tricky. It pays homage to many classic arcades, but doesn’t feel like a complete rip on any of them. It’s fun to play a round or two and set it down, or just get sucked into for a few hours. I have more than double the hours in this (cheap) gem than I do after playing through Pokémon. I can’t recommend this enough to any fan of the genre.
ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition (Switch eShop)
Tony says that despite the sour taste left in the mouth by the first version, the updated ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition is now worth your time and money:
You guys reviewed the original Ark game on Switch... and admittedly it was a nightmare. But the Ultimate Survivor Edition is a seriously worthy remake and runs great on Switch. I haven't played anything else since it came out several months ago... it's crazy good. Anyway... hope this helps.
The Spirit and the Mouse (Switch eShop)
Lucie wrote in to recommend The Spirit and the Mouse:
This game is about a little mouse who wants to help humans in a small village, it really caught my attention by how wholesome it was. It's an exploration and narrative game, it just feels so cozy to me esp because I have pet rats and I just love representation of small critter in games!!
Another Tomorrow (Switch eShop)
cmbaum wanted to highlight a specific studio and its output:
Just a shoutout for the Glitch Games offerings that finally found their way over to Switch (Forever Lost, Another Tomorrow, etc.). This British studio puts out high-quality and very funny point-and-click room escape-type games. They definitely should be on people’s radar.
SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions (Switch eShop)
Mattias wrote in to recommend SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions:
It's an 'open-ended' RPG, which peels away unnecessary traveling, instead focusing on the plot points, and it has an interesting combat system. I'm not sure how else to describe it other than 'unique'. It's fun, hope you try it.
Rotund Rebound (Switch eShop)
Jay recommends both Rotund Takeoff and Rotund Rebound:
Rotund Takeoff is truly a hidden gem that I loved. From the cuteness to the challenging levels to the interesting animal characters and enemies, it's just such a fun game. Especially for just something to pick up whenever you want. Every person I know who's played it had fun, and I've always wished more people knew about it.
Rotund Rebound is even more fleshed out , and just as challenging in the best way. It's obvious so much love and care went into the world and level design. Like Takeoff, I haven't met a single person who played it that didn't enjoy it, so I know it's worth even more people discovering it. You literally play as a Bunny, it can't get any better than that.
Monster Train First Class (Switch eShop)
And finally, KevinLo9 thinks Monster Train First Class deserves more attention:
Many people chalk this game up as a Slay the Spire clone, but I think that is unfair and untrue. This game is unique in that every run feels winnable, and you have a lot of ability to craft the type of deck you want on each run. It is the fairest roguelike game I’ve played.

Our thanks to everyone who responded. Let us know below if you've sampled any of the games above and if you agree with the recommendations. We're off to scour the Switch eShop and catch up with some of these.
If you've got a recommendation for us, you can send them to us by following the guidelines and instructions below:
Submission guidelines
- 100-word limit - Keep it brief! A history of the genre and deep-dive into every mechanic is unnecessary. Concentrate on what the game is about, what sets it apart from other games and why you enjoyed it.
- One entry per game - Feel free to send your thoughts on multiple games, but there's no need to duplicate.
- Choose only games that we haven't reviewed on the site - To check if a Nintendo Life review exists, simply type the name of the game into the search box at the very top of the page (look for the magnifying glass icon in the top left corner) and click on the game page that appears. If there's no review, you're good to go!
How to send a recommendation
- Head to Nintendo Life's Contact page and select the subject "Switch eShop Hidden Gems" from the drop down menu (it's already done for you in the link above). Type your name, email and beautifully-crafted message into the appropriate box, hit send and Bob's your uncle!

I'm glad Dadish is finally on one of these lists because that series is just weirdly adorable and the platforming is fun even though very basic.
I hadn't heard of the other games, but some look intriguing. I may check out Arietta because I've been looking for more 2d-zelda-likes.
Edit: I hope this article gets linked to the associated game pages as was done with the last article in this series. If you are looking up a game, it is nice to see/locate this type of mini-review even if a full review was never made.
I wonder if The Spirit & The Mouse will have physical release.
Switch or PS4 / PS5 version, I will pick one of them.
@Anti-Matter I just saw the other day that this will be Super Rare’s next release on April27th.
@ATHFjman18
Eh, what?! 😯
I will check that website.
Edit. OMG...
I bought KUUKIYOMI: Consider It! and it's so charming. Certainly has a unique place in my collection.
The coming of this article scared me because I usually end up picking something up that managed to fall through the cracks, not this time though (phew) but that's just down to me having them already with games like Siralim, Wildfrost and Monster Train or the genres just not being my thing.
Really appreciate these though, maybe next time the Eshop will get some more money out of me because of it.
Dadish rules
arietta and gracie i am getting them.
Dadish is a great, simple platformer. Think I actually submitted it for the last list. And yeah, it and its sequels are very often on sale for like $2, so definitely worth grabbing when you can.
Monster Train, Saga Scarlet G , Unavowed, the Piczle Lines series are all good. Satisfying gaming for me.
I may check out the "improved" ARK game now after deleting it off my wishlist a few moons ago.
Xiaomei is on my wishlist.
There's a fair few in there I haven't heard of so this is a great feature. Thanks everyone.
Vengeful Heart looks dope. Definitely wishlisting it.
Will probably do the same with Xiaomei as well.
Probably won't grab the sequel any time soon, since I have a lot of puzzles left in the original, but Piczle Lines is fun time-waster puzzle series.
I really like this feature. So many strong indies just sort of get lost in the flood of software hitting the eshop at all times.
@Diogmites
First of all I love your comment so much.
And second your question was prolly rhetorical but oh well xD
I can't speak for everyone else but I collect Eshop titles or should I say 'icons' like they are trading cards. I know I will die before I play everything but you gotta spend your money on something am I right? and games are the best value for money you can get.
I literally check the Eshop twice daily and if it looks cool and I can afford it I buy it, if it's too pricey I stick it on the wishlist and get it when it goes on sale. Have I found some stinkers? Oh absolutely but then I just uninstall and move on, it's almost always worth the risk when you manage to find something amazing, I've broadened my tastes so much just doing this. It's almost as fun researching and buying the games (and getting hyped about getting to them) as it is playing them for me.
It's worth noting I'm a minimalist, is that the right word? I don't buy anything I don't need in other aspects of my life, I wear my clothes till they are falling apart before buying new ones and always pick the cheaper options in groceries where possible, so I have lots of leighway to have a little fun with my gaming budget. When there are AAA's out and the Eshop is full of new games every day it becomes stressful in a way and it's a little bit obsessive, so when a Nintendo direct is empty that's actually a relief for me sometimes. Though I actually play more indies than anything else anyway.
Every month a new list with upcoming titles on it,, but there's rarely a day when something you didn't know about stealth drops on there, it's a game in of itself xD
Oh and I find a quick steam search/ youtube search is helpful for filtering out the actual junk titles.
For the second of these articles in a row, my Super Crate Box suggestion has been ignored. Tsk tsk 😕
@The_Pixel_King
Your efforts weren't in vain good soldier I've added it my wishlist for my gold points to eat up.
Thanks for including my suggestion 🙇🏻♂️
These have been great to read!
Done! I have sent my small suggestion and I hope you guys like it!
@Diogmites Severance Blade of Darkness
Wildfrost looks interesting, but I've seen people complaining about the game being totally unbalanced, plus the devs closed the steam forum of the game.
I look through the new eshop games in the on-Switch news every week but it's just impossible to know if most of the games are good from the descriptions. This week there were over 50 new games (it gets broken up into 2 posts when there are more than 50) and almost every week there are 30 or more. Honestly there are so many games and inevitably so many hidden gems which get no reviews that there could easily be an article like this every month.
I definitely appreciate this series. There are over 5,000 games on Switch and although NintendoLife does an impressive job covering major games plus a selection of indies, they could never hope to catch them all.
@Diogmites Dark Souls in 2001 Literally!
Great missed picks, I'll need to check a few of these out! I haven't heard of any of these titles save Ark Survival
Xiaomei and Donut Dodo were on my radar, but not Blue Rider. Looks decent!
@Diogmites
Yeah if you've had a lot of awful luck it does tend to knock your confidence a bit, I understand that completely, sometimes I get a string of bad luck with what I choose to play and it feels awful, but it's soon forgotten next time something hits the spot.
Yeah I'm glad you aren't about to copy me xD I am not advocating for that behavior trust me. This hobby/addiction comes at the expense of a social life, eating out or any real world experiences like holidays for example.
Yeah I guess it's just a simple odds game, the more you collect the more likely you are to find gems.
Welp I'm out then cause I'm not that tidy, I keep up with the housework don't get me wrong but I'm one of those people that think homes should be lived in not displayed.
That's what being an adult is about is it not? pay your rent, don't starve and whatever is left (if you are lucky to have any left this day and age that is) and have some fun? I hear people do this whole 'raising a child' thing, but I'm not about that life, I hear it is detrimental to money and free time so I opted out of that.
Oh I used to be like that too before the Switch at least, I still have some things leftover from that time, mostly Pokemon stuff but if I want something new like a figure for example, I sell something I already own to get it and the cycle continues constantly rotating, I've managed to accumulate a little savings pot with stuff I've sold when I've gotten bored of it or what do the cool kids say; 'it doesn't spark joy' anymore. It saves me money, and my flat is small so it helps with the space issue and the aforementioned game problem. I always trade in physical games for new ones too that helps, I never replay things, I know that may be sacrilegious to some.
What do you collect if you don't mind me asking?
Intense is right xD
Honestly I think there is some undiagnosed neurodivergence here but I know I'm far from the only one who does this.
Oh and no problem, I replied far too seriously to your comment that was meant in jest, I do that sometimes, don't mind me!
Xiaomei and Donut Dodo have been on my radar for a while, and it's good to hear they're worth it!
Blue Rider and Rotund Rebound are both news to me, so thanks for the heads up! ❤️
Don’t see Belle Boomerang up there. Hope you’re all considering reviewing it instead now?
Donut Dodo looks interesting. Never heard of Rotund Rebound, but I’ll take a look into that one, for sure. Might think about getting Xiaomei later too.
Added a few to my wishlist thanks to this article and the reader recommendations! Thanks you guys!
Added Arietta, Cleo and Vengeful. Just picked up Vengeful too as it’s 50% off currently at $7! (US)
@Diogmites Hemasaurus is so good! My roomie and I have made it a staple of our video game nights because it's got that great arcadey feel, without coming off as a copy/paste.
@FishyS I honestly was shocked Dadish didn’t have a review on Nintendolife and had to recommend it as soon as I noticed that. It’s giving me many of my best laughs on Switch.
Also Arietta has a demo. It’s a bit short but worth checking out if you want to give it a try first.
Thank you NintendoLife for including my two suggestions! (Dadish and Arietta of Spirits)
PSA that Nairi: Tower of Shirin exists
Also, I'm 100% getting the spirit and the mouse. So it's like untitled goose game but you are the good guy
@KoiTenchi I hadn't noticed you wrote the two I was most interested in/liked! Apparently we have similar tastes. In which case I would suggest Harlow to you (if you haven't played it) which is my contribution to one of these articles last Fall; it has a similar type of absolute charmingness and super relaxing fun-but-not-difficult platforming as Dadish, although the platforming is sort of physics based rather than normal jumping. I was actually thinking of submitting Dadish as well but apparently I didn't get around to it. I agree it's a little sad that none of the Dadish games ever got a formal review here, but there are just too many games. Have you tried the daily Dadish 4th game? I haven't tried it; a review for that one would be nice because it sounds a bit odd.
I just downloaded the Arietta demo; thanks for the tip.
@Diogmites Had to write my reply in two parts cause it was too long.
I see you edited your comment so a lot of what I said doesn't make sense now xD I talk too much.
Haha funny enough with everything else in life I'm exactly like you, weird that. I think ironically playing the game corner in Pokemon RBY taught me not to gamble.
Yeah it's real rough. If you've been through it I hope you came out the other end well. Way I see it there are a lot of worse things I could be addicted to.
Yeah we are all forced into it to some extent sadly.
This has gone so far off topic but hey-ho...
I'll happily chat for hours on here but if anyone asks for my socials I flee straight away. I like to call this sort of interaction 'turn based' in which you can take your time to think and type out replies, heck if you aren't feeling social you can take days/weeks to reply and no-one bats an eye they'll just assume you have life going on, but as soon as someone wants to be a friend and take it to instant messaging I brick it, it's too much pressure for me. At that point a friendship has to be nurtured and maintained, you are forced into replying so as to not come off as rude or aloof and hurt their feelings. It's no longer as natural and free-flowing as it was. Maybe you started talking about games, and then it just devolves into the monotony of everyday life, and is no longer thought-provoking or interesting. Oh and I'm usually busy playing the games I buy to engage with people, heck I'm playing now, but I'm grinding FF2 so I can be distracted. But hey I got my partner, and these comment sections, that's all I need. He's an MMORG fan so he gets it, actually, he is quite pleased with himself as he gets to be online a lot more than his other friends do, since I will just chill and play my games and he'll play his and then we commune at night to play co-op together, it's perfect. And as for Nlife, it's my happy place I can chat games all I like :3
Too much life wasted being house-proud for sure.
Yeah there is, leave it to everyone else, we aren't gonna die out as a race anytime soon. I know they are just so eww you don't know where they have been and so many parents let them run amook, it makes me feel gross and if they run at you it actually makes me quite anxious cause I don't know how to react. My sister works with children and I'm like why would you choose to be around them you freak. No offense to anyone here with kids though, you do you, if raising kids wasn't rewarding and fulfilling in a way I'll never be able to understand no-one would have more than one. I'd make an awful parent too, I wish more people would realise that before they pop them out like toy machines xD
@Diogmites
Yeah it is possible. I don't spend as much as it seems, I know of people who collect adult Lego and the sums for those sets make my Eshop spendature blush.
It's a shame you had to part with them, but hopefully you no longer wanted them. I did the same thing a few Christmases ago when I fell on rather hard financial times. Though it's worth it to make loved ones smile.
I used to as a kid, but there is just too much releasing to justify it. Saying that though, I am playing through Stadium on NSO which has been played to death in the past.
It's nice to have multiple interests, like a home surrounded with the things you have discovered and enjoyed throughout your life. Do your board games get played or are they for collection purposes only? I imagine it would be nice to have IRL friends to gather round and have a few games and some cold beverages with, though keeping them all nice and pristine sounds equally enticing.
Yeah I feel you, there is no way I could not rotate things over the years, same as you. The things you like shift, evolve, and change as well, it's ever adapting. Kinda reminds me of the game unpacking in a way, I'm sure you've heard of it (I think it's overrated myself but the idea is nice)
Anyway Imma shut up now as to not hog this thread.
Donut Dodo with the 3rd place love! I personally have a soft spot for 80s arcade games, whether I've played them or not. I love how this game was crafted so much like its inspiration that it literally could be mistaken for an original 80s release. If you love the Donkey Kongs, Pac-Mans, etc then I can't recommend it enough.
I also need to see about picking up Arietta. It's one of the few 2D Zelda-likes who's demo held my attention.
Actually you guys miss tons and tons of games. Usually the focus here is Zelda, Metroid, bayonetta, Mario, etc. About 10 titles at most is all I ever see here, over and over and over and over.
@The_Pixel_King
It looks great to me so thanks for commenting even if it didn't make the list
I'll grab it asap and I'll let you know what I think if I remember to.
High score chasers are brilliant if you only have a few minutes to spare, I use Void Prison for that currently, will be nice to have a change!
@Diogmites Cool beans, no pressure!
Great list of recommendations. I just wanted to say about Xiaomei, that I find it weird the recommender said it was a knock off of Ku Fung on NES, which is probably one of the last games you would want to rip off if you where making a ninja game.
Thank you, brave souls, for sifting through the shovelwear to find these gems. They look pretty good indeed and I've never heard of most of them!
@MeloMan
You should definitely check out Annalynn on Steam or itcho since you liked Dodo Donut.
https://cruise-elroy.itch.io/annalynn
@MikeJones Mike, I'm not trying to sh3t on people that like Kung Fu when I say this however, it's not the only game with gameplay like that, it's a notorious terrible game that AVGN covered, and it's 38 years old; I'm going to guess a lot of people wouldn't make that connection based on those things.
@Itakiteacher
Are you thinking of Karate Kid? AVGN did not cover Kung Fu. Also, AVGN is a satirical series. Just because he talks crap about games does not mean they are bad or should be hated on. I happen to like Kung Fu as simple the game is.
@HistoricKombat I double checked and you're right. It was covered on the channel, but by Mike Mati and another guy. I was wasn't trying to say not to like it or not, that's just what I heard from my friends and on forums.
Thanks for getting my two games added here!
To whoever recommended Dadish - that is a great little game. It just flies right by, and is about perfect. Arietta of Spirits was also a nice little Zelda like. Lots of good recommends in these lists.
@MikeJones I guess I object too it being called a "knock off" when it seems to be more complex game, as you said earlier. Nintendo site or not, it's not what people of think when think of the NES. Just to be clear, I'm saying it's bad that's just what people have told me that's there experience with it. I'll leave it there and wish you a good day.
@Itakiteacher
When Kung Fu is referred to, people usually think of the NES game despite originally being an arcade game. Sure, Kung Fu is not as memorable as the big hitters from Nintendo, Capcom & Konami, but it is far from a forgotten NES game. It was even one of the original black box games. Also, many games took inspiration from Kung Fu such as Bad Dudes and The Ninja Warriors. In fact, if it was not for Kung Fu, there would not be a beat em' up genre.
'You finally found me, I've been eating nothing but sand for three days!'
'You've only been lost for 1 day.....'
'Yeah I was eating sand when I was at home too.'
Dadish is worth it just for those end of level interactions alone.
I have not tried a single one of these games.
Donut Dodo looks so good! I kind of want it. And on a similar note, we need to keep this series going so we can get a spotlight on more games that Nintendo Life may have missed that deserved some attention. This is a great asset to this website.
Edit: Decided to get it. The gameplay is so fun! And at 5 bucks, you can hardly argue. Just look at that artwork!
@FishyS Somehow Harlow managed to miss my sights! I just watched a trailer (and also found your more in depth recommendation from the previous article when checking if Nintendolife had a review) and it definitely does look up my alley!
As far as Daily Dadish, admittedly while I’m aware of it I haven’t tried that one yet. I’m a little hesitant of the whole change to the daily system as well but would definitely still pick it up on a sale since all the Dadish games seem to go on sale pretty consistently but Daily Dadish has not yet since it’s so new. Unfortunately I’ve had a bit of trouble finding much extra info about the way it works.
@dartmonkey I see ARK Ultimate Edition made the list, despite the original ARK already having been reviewed. Once again, please reconsider the @Liam_Doolan review of A Robot Named FIGHT! from 2018 because the game has significantly expanded since then. Only difference between ARNF and ARK is ARK had several updates in the forms of DLC while ARNF had nothing but free updates (and no name change).
https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/switch-eshop/a_robot_named_fight
I started playing the game a few days after the Switch release (two days before your review, in fact), which was the same version you guys had reviewed and since then, I've had 180+ hours on the game, most of it before 2021 (the last major update was late 2020). I joined the game's Discord and Patreon, so I've been quite well-versed on the game's inner workings since basically day one of purchase. That being said, the review on this site from 2018 had several important errors that didn't hold up then and certainly don't hold up now. If I may...
The trade-off here is that story and character development is basically non-existent after the initial opening sequence has finished. Not true at all. The game offered three different endings back then, all intended to be seen in chronological order and all offering greater insight into the world of ARNF. You didn't make a single mention of multiple endings.
The comparisons to Nintendo’s much-loved Metroid franchise might seem excessive, but A Robot Named Fight makes little effort to differentiate itself from the source material it has been inspired by. Metroid was mentioned a lot and for good reason, but it would also be just as accurate to say the game takes obvious inspiration from Binding of Isaac, Mega Man and Castlevania, as well. All four of these inspirations created a unique mix that's well beyond just something that looks like a Super Metroid ripoff. Seriously, even Shiryu said it's way more than just a ripoff as the first comment of the review (to me, implying it deserved way more than just a 7/10).
The trade-off here, as mentioned, is no real story or character development beyond the basics to motivate you to save the day Again, not true. At the time of writing, you had three different final bosses to tackle, not just one. Killing the second final boss offered the origin of the Megabeast and the third final boss expanded on that even more.
Fast forward to now, when the game has six total endings expanding the story even further, three new single player modes (which again, expand the story), a multiplayer deathmatch mode, three new alternative areas, an expanded final area that leads to the second final boss (as opposed to the short and static area from your version), dozens of new unlockables and even a physics update to make you jump more fluidly vs the old Super Metroid floaty slow physics. There are also several 'secret seeds', which are non-canon modes hidden behind the alphanumeric seed menu. Two of them existed back when your review was written (Classic boss rush and Deathmatch when it was still in beta).
Oh, that's another thing! Your review made zero mentions of the seeded run menu, which allows you to replay your previous runs. If you're going to write a review, at least do it well or admit you didn't see everything the game has to offer.
I think that's it for my rant. Have a good day, everyone.
As soon as I saw a visual novel on this list, I knew I couldn't take any of the other recommendations seriously.
I really like the Dadish games, they're great fun and I like the funny conversations at the end of each level.
Donut Dodo is also pretty fun too.
Great recommendations, haven't played any of these games yet but practically all of them seem more or less interesting to me, added the ones that weren't already in it to my wishlist!
Although my backlog is already big enough and I don't have time to play any of these games, I really appreciate this style of content and enjoy reading it!
Thanks for sharing this! Always love the hidden gems. I’ll be picking up Terror of Hemasaurus and slap city on sales for sure. Donut dodo looks interesting as well and has a donkey Kong 94 vibe.
@Diogmites
A perfectionist I see. Wish I had your discipline I just waffle on and on and hope for the best xD
You shouldn't be so hard on yourself though, you come across really well! And it's sad you delete things. What you say might be informative, relatable or even make someone's day, you never know, I really enjoy reading comment sections, and I bet I'm not alone in that. But don't sweat it, you do you. I'm usually late to reply anyway xD
Bear in mind I have no nostalgia bias because it's my first time with these games. But I loved I, found it quite cozy and relaxing, but II feels a bit of a slog. It has quite obscure game design (well it is old ) Nothing is ever spelt out and you really have to talk to everyone and try everything to progress, (I've had to resort to following a walkthrough) and the dungeons feel quite bloated, but I am well aware I might be just stupid, but it feels like they threw everything at this game to see what would stick, quite common in a first sequel I imagine. That being said, the story is better and it's got a nice balance to it difficulty wise whereas I steamrolled one. But don't let my opinion deter you, you might love it!
Heh I really need to do something to my profile but I'm too lazy, but you nailed the reference! xD
It takes a few interactions for me to remember names/icons so don't worry. I commend you for even attempting to try and finish it. I sold it on within hours, that game being how it is broke my heart, I hope the payoff will be worth it, I'm still gutted I will never know how the story concludes, I might seek it out on youtube for some closure.
I'm sorry if our interaction stressed you out! >.<
That's good. I won't lie, I've sold things I didn't want to to get out of a few rough £££ patches in my life, but it's in the past and I don't miss them now so all is well!
You can say that again! xD
heh funny enough my N64 was one of the things I parted with so I haven't played it (stadium) for years so it's why I'm enjoying it now. Once I beat it, that will do me for another few decades probably.
That's a sign of use and love! Shame life has to go and tear us apart like that. Your partner sounds like a keeper!
Yeah home is where your stuff is as they say.
Settling down with your interests is no bad thing, I sure wish I could stop adding to the pile!
Yeah Unpacking is chill and does have some charm about it, if it weren't for the hype surrounding it I might have enjoyed it more. It would be a good game to play when feeling under the weather.
Same to you!
@Diogmites My apologies for going off-topic, but I didn't know you can spoiler tag here. How do you do that?
Five of these games look really good to me and I can't wait to get them.
Platformers Dadish, Donut Dodo and Rotund Rebound all look good. I'll get Dadish first because I love double jump and the relaxing backing music is sensational.
ARK and The Spirit And The Mouse also look great. I am going to love switching between them playing as a massive donosaur and then a tiny mouse. 😊
@Nanami_Ataraxia Thanks for helping me discover The Smile Alchemist! Never even heard of this and it's right up my alley.
Great article, would love to see this become a regular feature like twice a year!
@thecricket
Oh you are more than welcome ^-^
I knew someone would appreciate it and it's very unlikely that someone would find it on their own unless they religiously check the Eshop like I do. I hope you like it!
Looks like you didn't miss anything too interesting if these are the best games you missed.
Floppy Knights is a great game, but it's an even better game if you can get while it's on sale.

I don't want to dogpile, but Kung Fu is actually really underrated in its historical impact. But yes, it does have simplistic gameplay without that context.
If it wasn't for the NES port specifically, there might not be Super Mario Bros. Miyamoto was interested in porting it specifically so he could learn how to make a scrolling game, as its designer had earlier invented parallax scrolling on Moon Patrol. It's also considered the first ever beat 'em up. Since the protagonist is modeled after Jackie Chan, it's the first game to feature a real person.
I believe it's also the reason why sections of a game eventually came to be called "levels" and why climactic opponents are called "bosses." Its boss fights sowed the seeds for the original Street Fighter, worked on by the same designer.
In fact, I could see Kung Fu making for a good Time Extension feature. 😉
@KoiTenchi Hello, I downloaded Dadish and I am really enjoying it, but it has crashed on me several times. Has this happened to you?
@LinktotheFuture I’ve never had Dadish 1, 2 or 3 crash on me but recently got Daily Dadish and unfortunately did encounter a crash on that.
I’m not sure what to suggest except maybe resetting your Switch. It’s possible they have a memory leak, I remember experiencing that once with Pokemon Violet. I’m not certain though if that even is the issue here.
@KoiTenchi Thanks for the reply. I will try restarting my Switch and redownloading the games as well.
I've played the Piczle series, Monster Train & Unavowed. Good, good gaming. Satisfying. Interesting article.
