One of the most immediately useful items in Metroid Dread are the Energy Tank upgrades, which give you a nice big boost to your health and make the game that little bit more possible. We've put together a list of all the Energy Tank locations in the game below:
Metroid Dread: All Energy Tanks Locations
ARTARIS
This Energy Tank upgrade is found pretty much immediately after grabbing the Charge Beam. You'll need to go to where we've located on the map below, heading right through caverns, you'll find it nestled in plain view with a simple slide through the gap beside it enough to see you pick it up.
This next Energy tank is up in the north east of Artaris and we need to run a bit of a gauntlet with our speed boost and shinespark abilities. Start your run where you can see Samus' helmet in the map pictured below, boost straight down the corridor ahead, activate shinespark and morph ball in order take out the two bomb blocks, dash over the pressure sensitive pad and then shinespark jump straight upwards at the end to destroy the speed blocks above you. A bit of a challenge but you'll get it in the end.
CATARIS
Once you've made your way to this second region you can head to the location marked on the map below where you'll see another Energy Tank to get your hands on. In order to nab this you'll need to check your map once you've diverted the heat in this area, come back to where we've indicated below, work your way down below the magnet lift you can see in the picture here and pull it down so it exposes one side of the room above. Now use your map to simply manoeuvre around to the right so you can reach this room - it's not too far away - and jump over to nab your upgrade.
BURENIA
This one is in the water-logged region of Burenia. Here you acquire the Flash Shift ability and, as soon as you do so you'll find this tank waiting at the end of a corridor, as pictured and pinpointed on a map below. If you run towards this tank you'll fall through the ground so we need to use Flash Shift in order to dash right across and grab the magnet pad on the wall to reach it.
For our next tank you'll need your Storm Missiles as it's stuck behind a door, you'll also need Space Jump to barrel your way into the recess in which it sits. As shown in the map below its location is in the watery southern part of this area.
GHAVORON
Our next Energy Tank uses the Ice Missile to take out the flaming barrier separating us from our prize in the location you'll find below.
DAIRON
This next tank sees you perform a speed boost and then a shinespark jump in order to blast through some blocks vertically right up through several levels to where your prize awaits. In the map below, Samus' helmet is the location of the tank and the red marker shows you the vertical jump area, which you'll approach at speed from the long corridor to the bottom left of it.
ELUN
This tank is north of you as soon as you enter this area from the shuttle, as marked on the map below. As easy a collectible as you'll get you simply need to break a few beam blocks spin up into the space, dispatch a bomb to clear a path and grab your prize.
This guide is part of our Metroid Dread walkthrough and guide series, which includes all ability locations, all missile tank locations, all energy tank locations, all energy parts, all suit upgrades, all power bomb tanks, plus every compatible amiibo unlock, E.M.M.I. and boss battle tips, and other helpful tips to help you get through the game and get those post-game unlocks.

sorry but, what's the point of play an adventure by following a guide🤨
@Zanzox It gives players who want help an option. Choice is a good thing
@Zanzox show me someone who has never played super metriod see how far they get without a guide
@Thelastjedi2007 me for example... finished it when it comes out on snes... without guides... without internet, just by committing myself
@tanaka2687 agree... but not just at launch...
@Zanzox
Some of us are no longer children with nothing better to do, and don't have time to waste searching endlessly in a game. I'm very proud of you for beating Super guide free, but I ain't got time for that
Quit spoilin hehe will revisit once I am passed my online search moratorium period in a few months. Super helpful for those of us that want it all!
@Classic603 me too, I'm 44... with 2 children, but I prefer to finish a game with my own hands instead of follow a guide, otherwise isn't satisfied for me (my opinion and my way to play, not an universal rule)
I am having a hell of a time getting the second tank in Artaria.
